Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a Goro Majima-led action-adventure that turns the series’ crime drama into a pirate treasure hunt. It launched on February 21, 2025, for PlayStation, Xbox and PC, with ship battles aboard the Goromaru, two combat styles and minigames. Physical editions are limited to PlayStation; Xbox and PC versions are digital.
What is Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii?
Developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by SEGA, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii follows Goro Majima after the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Majima loses his memory and washes ashore on an island, where a young islander named Noah rescues him. He then sets out to recover his past while getting drawn into a pursuit of treasure amid rival pirates. SEGA’s game overview describes its story and action-adventure format.
How the pirate gameplay works
Ship battles aboard the Goromaru
Majima and his crew travel aboard the Goromaru, and pirate ship battles are a central distinction from the usual street-level combat of the series. In a PlayStation.Blog interview, RGG Studio director and Like a Dragon series executive producer Masayoshi Yokoyama said the team created the Pirate Battle system from scratch, while drawing on its experience reworking existing assets into new systems.
Mad Dog and Pirate styles
The game features two fighting styles: Majima’s familiar Mad Dog style and a Pirate style built around his new life at sea. SEGA highlights new combat mechanics alongside the ship battles, giving the adventure both on-foot action and naval encounters.

Release date and platforms
The game launched on February 21, 2025. SEGA’s original announcement listed February 28, 2025, but its later out-now release notice confirms the final launch date as February 21.

SEGA’s edition information states that physical copies are not available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows or Steam. For PlayStation, check the regional listing to confirm the specific physical edition and included content. SEGA’s February 21, 2025 release notice reported 27.7 million standalone game sales worldwide for the Like a Dragon series. That is a series-wide figure, not sales of Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii; the notice does not provide a title-specific sales total.
