After 12 years modelling in New York, Perth-born Letecia Price returned home in 2020 and took a warehouse job with Hands & Feet, a charity that collects and distributes food. A 2024 profile traced how a career that began in fashion led her to practical, local relief work in Western Australia.
From Perth to New York
According to Caitlin Vinci’s profile in PerthNow, published 17 September 2024, Price represented Australia in the Ford Supermodel of the World competition when she was 14. She signed with Ford Models and moved to New York at 15, without her family. She modelled there for 12 years.
Price returned to Perth in 2020, aged 27, the profile reported. She initially hoped to draw on what she had learned in the beauty industry to help young girls facing pressures around self-esteem. Then she saw a flyer advertising a warehouse manager role with Hands & Feet. Her mother encouraged her to apply.
What Hands & Feet does
Hands & Feet’s work centres on getting food to communities. The charity says it collects fruit and vegetables from Coles and Aldi stores, sorts the food, and distributes it through local churches. Its Community Care program also provides hampers, canned and packaged food, drinks, bottled water and milk when available, at no cost to recipients. Price described the personal shift in the PerthNow profile: “I really wanted to help people after living a quite superficial life; I realised life is so much deeper than heels and fake tan”. She also recalled starting in the Osborne Park warehouse: “Mum nudged me to apply. When I began, it was just me, one volunteer, and an empty warehouse filled with dust in Osborne Park.”
What changed for Price
In the profile, Price contrasted her former work with the physical, hands-on demands of the charity role: “I love this side of me. I wear cargo pants and work boots, and I drive a truck. It’s very opposite to anything I ever imagined, but I wouldn’t change a thing,” The quote captures a change in daily work, but not a simple rejection of her earlier career: the profile says she had wanted to use her beauty-industry experience to support young people’s self-esteem before she applied for the warehouse job.

Hands & Feet distributes food through local churches, so the practical starting point is to check its current site for a church or program near you. The charity frames the question directly: “Is there a church near me where I can get food for my family?” Locations and program details can change, so use the official site rather than relying on older distribution lists.
A local Echo Newspaper report from 26 July 2024 described 11 Hands & Feet distribution centres across Perth, with some serving more than 90 families a week. Those are figures from that report, not confirmed current totals. The report identified Price as the WA warehouse manager and quoted her saying people did not need to show a concession card or proof of need to ask for food.
