What makes Kate’s bob distinctive?
McMillan describes the cut as an A-line bob that sits around the earlobe, reaches above the hairline at the nape, and has no layers. He calls it “a Vidal Sassoon bob.” The defining feature is its crisp, blunt line rather than a heavily layered or softened shape.
The finish matters, too. McMillan distinguishes a slight flick from a more pronounced flip: the latter changes the impression of this cut. His “Karen” comparison is a stylist’s colloquial judgment about this particular shape and finish, not a technical haircut category or a rule about who can wear a bob. How to ask a stylist for the cut
Describe the specific elements rather than asking only for “Leslie Bibb’s bob”: a short, blunt A-line bob around the earlobe, with no layers and a clean line at the nape. Bring a reference image and talk through the length and shape in relation to your hair and how much upkeep you want. The available account describes Bibb’s cut; it does not establish that the same shape suits every hair type or face shape.

- Shape: A-line, with the front longer than the back.
- Edge: blunt and clean, without layers.
- Finish: keep any bend restrained if you want to stay close to the look McMillan describes.
How the cut was designed to be worn
McMillan says the cut was chosen to be low-maintenance while Bibb filmed in Thailand and to grow out easily. It can be worn with a middle or side part, or tucked behind the ear. Products are optional: mousse, texturizing spray, hairspray, or gel can help finish it, but the cut does not necessarily need product. McMillan names Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray and L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray as products he uses for bobs; these are options, not requirements.
Why Kate’s hair fits the character
Bibb has described Kate as controlled and perfectionistic, with insecurity beneath her composed surface. The sharply defined bob echoes that controlled presentation without requiring elaborate styling. In a 2025 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Bibb also explained that Kate buys a fresh wardrobe for the trip and tries on a different version of herself.

The hair is separate from the character’s vacation wardrobe. Costume designer Alex Bovaird describes the three longtime friends as coordinated in sundresses, bags, and blonde highlights, and identifies Kate with Paul Smith and Delvaux, including a Valentino swimsuit and a Lanvin dinner dress. Those costume details help explain Kate’s on-screen presentation; none is needed to recreate the haircut. Harper’s Bazaar interviewed Bibb, while British Vogue spoke with costume designer Alex Bovaird.
Bibb’s own press-tour outfits are another distinct subject: Vogue covered her real-life looks from designers including J.W. Anderson, Thom Browne, Jacquemus, and Balmain. Those appearances are not Kate’s wardrobe or part of McMillan’s haircut description. Vogue’s March 19, 2025 profile covers Bibb’s off-screen style.
