Yes—LEGO turned the winning X-Files concept from its 2025 ’90s nostalgia contest into an official set. The retail model, LEGO Ideas The X-Files (21369), is a redesigned 1,478-piece build with eight minifigures, announced for general release on August 4, 2026. It adapts the fan design rather than reproducing it unchanged.
How the ’90s contest led to an official X-Files set
LEGO Ideas’ “Build Your Nostalgia” challenge invited fan-designed builds inspired by the 1990s. The selected entry, “The X-Files: The Truth Is Out There,” was created by WetWired, credited by LEGO as Brent Waller. The concept paired Mulder’s basement office with a forest UFO scene. IGN India reported on the winning design in June 2025.
Being selected for development is not a guarantee that a fan model will be sold as submitted. LEGO says Ideas concepts can be considered for official production after selection in a challenge or after gaining community support; the company develops the retail product separately. What is in the official LEGO The X-Files set?
LEGO announced set 21369 on July 21, 2026. Its 1,478 pieces build Mulder’s office alongside a forest scene and hovering UFO. LEGO highlights the “I Want to Believe” poster and pencils embedded in the office ceiling. The set measures about 30 cm high, with width and depth of approximately 23 cm each. The contest submission was described in contemporary coverage as roughly 2,020 pieces with seven figures. Those are reported details of Waller’s submitted model, not specifications for the product LEGO ultimately released.

Release date, price and current availability
LEGO announced Insiders early access beginning August 1, 2026, followed by general availability on August 4. Its announcement listed a US price of $199.99, £179.99 in the UK and €199.99 in euro markets. Prices, stock and release terms vary by region and can change. When LEGO’s US listing was checked on October 4, 2026, it showed the set available for $199.99; check the official local listing for current status.
