No: LeBron James’s “Second Decision” was not an announcement that he was retiring, and it was not an Amazon ad. The October 7, 2025 reveal promoted a Hennessy collaboration, using imagery that recalled James’s 2010 televised decision to leave Cleveland for Miami. An earlier Amazon Prime Day promotion featuring James was a separate campaign.
What did LeBron James announce in the “Second Decision” ad?
Before the reveal, James posted: “The decision of all decisions. October 7th. 12pm EST.” The phrasing and staged suspense echoed his 2010 televised announcement that he would leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat. That callback prompted retirement speculation, but the reveal was a Hennessy campaign.
In the ad, James adapted his famous “take my talents to South Beach” line: “This fall, I’m going to be taking my talents to Hennessy V.S.O.P.” It ended with him saying, “I like my decision.” The Associated Press reported that Hennessy announced a limited-edition bottle featuring James’s name and signature crowning gesture.
Was the “Second Decision” an Amazon ad?
No. The October 2025 “Second Decision” reveal was for Hennessy. The Amazon connection comes from a different, earlier 2025 Prime Day promotion featuring James. OutKick described that separate ad as “What’s next?” and said it considered what might come after his eventual retirement. That is secondary commentary, not evidence that Amazon was involved in the Hennessy campaign.
#1 Best Overall
- Crafted from sturdy metal, this 8×12 inch tin sign stands up to regular outdoor rain, wind and sunlight as well as daily indoor use. Suitable for bar, kitchen, bedroom, garden and patio decor.
- High-quality printed artwork resists fading under sunlight and humid conditions. Classic vintage design seamlessly pairs with farmhouse, industrial, mid-century modern and casual home decor styles for versatile wall styling.
- Pre-punched mounting holes on four corners allow quick setup with nails, screws or adhesive hooks. Lightweight metal structure adds little load to wall surfaces during installation. Smooth rounded edges prevent unintended cuts while handling.
- Measuring 8×12 inches, the moderate size fits most blank walls without awkward proportion. Unlike easy-damaged paper posters, the metal surface can be quickly wiped clean with a soft damp cloth to remove dust and dirt.
- Great to cover minor wall flaws for household decoration; bar owners can combine multiple signs to create unified retro wall layout. It works as a decent gift for retro decor fans on birthdays, housewarmings and holidays.

Why did fans think it could be retirement?
The teaser deliberately borrowed the language and suspense of James’s 2010 announcement. His age and uncertainty about his career timeline added to the speculation. BBC Sport reported that the teaser had received more than 1.3 million Instagram likes by Tuesday in 2025, as fans reacted ahead of the reveal. That was a moment-specific figure, not a current count.
At the time, James was about to enter his 23rd NBA season, according to BBC Sport. That is 2025 campaign context, not a statement about his career status in 2026.

What was the Hennessy product, and why do reports use different names?
The product naming differs between the contemporary news report and Hennessy’s current collaboration page. The AP report about the October 2025 reveal called the featured bottle Hennessy V.S.O.P. Hennessy’s current page calls the collaboration “Hennessy V.S x LeBron James” and describes purple-and-orange branding. Those names should not be treated as interchangeable; check the label on the specific edition before identifying or linking to it.
Hennessy’s page includes a checkout route and says orders are fulfilled by ReserveBar, an independent third party facilitating purchases through licensed retailers. The page does not establish stock or sales availability in every location. No Amazon listing for this exact bottle was confirmed.

What is the simplest way to separate the story from the rumor?
- Retirement: The “Second Decision” reveal was not a retirement announcement.
- Brand: The reveal promoted Hennessy, not Amazon.
- Source of the confusion: The teaser echoed James’s 2010 “Decision,” while Amazon had run a distinct Prime Day promotion featuring him earlier in 2025.
