The League of Legends World Championship Finals were shown in IMAX Wanda theaters in China in November 2024. A current 2026 screening, however, has not been confirmed in the official sources available: there are no verified dates, participating cinemas or ticket details.
What happened in 2024
IMAX China reported that it joined with Wanda Cinemas in November 2024 to livestream the League of Legends World Championship Finals. The company said the broadcast reached nearly 160 theatres in 88 cities and used IMAX Live technology. Those figures describe the 2024 event, not a current or recurring schedule. IMAX China’s 2024 Environmental, Social and Governance Report, published in 2025, is the source for the event details.
IMAX China described the presentation as offering an expanded field of view and gameplay detail. The announcement establishes that the Finals were livestreamed in those cinemas; it does not establish that every future Worlds broadcast will use the same format or network.
Is a 2026 IMAX Wanda screening confirmed?
No. The official material reviewed does not confirm a 2026 screening in China, nor does it provide dates, participating IMAX Wanda cinemas or ticket sales. The 2024 event is a verified precedent, not evidence of a new event.

Other official material does not fill that gap. Riot Games published a China venue list for Worlds watch parties in 2025, which includes Wanda venues and locations identified as IMAX. That list is specific to 2025 and does not show that every listed site was an IMAX Wanda cinema or establish a 2026 broadcast. Riot Games’ 2025 China watch-party venue list can help identify that year’s locations, but it is not a current-year schedule.
IMAX China’s 2025 annual report also names the League of Legends World Championship among live broadcasts during its reporting period. This supports that the event featured in IMAX China’s live programming, but it does not verify a 2026 date or a Wanda venue. IMAX China’s 2025 annual report.

What to check before making plans
For a current screening, look for an official notice from Riot Games, IMAX China or Wanda Cinemas that names the city and cinema. A useful listing should specify:
- Whether the event is a live Finals broadcast, a replay or a watch party.
- The cinema, screening date and start time.
- Whether the venue is specifically an IMAX Wanda location.
- Ticket availability and the authorized purchase channel.
Do not treat an old venue list, a general IMAX location count or a past event announcement as confirmation that tickets are available now.

Why the partnership figures do not confirm a screening
In a June 18, 2024 partnership announcement, IMAX Corporation reported that Wanda Film had 381 IMAX locations operating and 19 in its backlog at that time. The figures describe the footprint reported in that dated announcement; they are not a current count, a Worlds venue list or proof that each location participated in the 2024 broadcast.
