Peacock’s guide also identifies Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler, Octavio Pisano as Detective Joe Velasco, Dean Winters as Detective Brian Cassidy, BD Wong as Dr. George Huang, and Dann Florek as Donald Cragen among familiar or special guest appearances. They are not named as season 27 main cast in that guide. See Peacock’s season 27 cast and premiere guide for the distinction.
Who is listed for season 28?
Peacock’s current series page lists these seven stars for the upcoming season:
Rank #2
- Mariska Hargitay
- Ice-T
- Peter Scanavino
- Kelli Giddish
- Kevin Kane
- Aimé Donna Kelly
- Corey Cott
As of October 4, 2026, season 28 had not premiered; Peacock scheduled it for October 8. The listing identifies the stars but does not give character names for every performer or confirm that each appears in every episode. Treat it as the currently announced lineup, not an episode-by-episode cast guarantee. Peacock says the series first aired September 20, 1999, and that 27 seasons are currently available. Its page also says new season 28 episodes will stream the day after their NBC broadcast. Check Peacock’s current series page for the listing and availability.
What is new about the cast and characters?
Kelli Giddish returns as Amanda Rollins
Giddish returned full time as Sergeant Amanda Rollins for season 27. Peacock names her among that season’s main cast, and TIME also reports her return as a series regular.
Rank #3
Noma Dumezweni joined the season 27 story
TIME identifies Noma Dumezweni as one of season 27’s new faces and describes her character as Benson’s boss, the chief of detectives. Peacock’s season 27 guide separately names Aimé Donna Kelly as Captain Renee Curry in the main cast; these are distinct cast details, not interchangeable character descriptions.
Corey Cott appears on Peacock’s season 28 list
Peacock includes Cott among the stars listed for the upcoming season. The current listing does not provide his character’s name, so it does not support assigning him a specific role here.
Rank #4

What is the series about?
Law & Order: SVU follows an NYPD unit investigating sexual assault, child abuse, and domestic violence, according to Peacock. Wolf Entertainment describes the series as produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment. Peacock characterizes it as the longest-running primetime drama in American television history; that is the service’s description, rather than a record claim independently documented on the cited pages.
For season 27, showrunner Michele Fazekas told TIME, “I think it’s okay to present an ideal version in an imperfect world.” Referring to Hargitay, she also said, “She’s a huge reason to come back.” Both remarks are Fazekas’s, not Hargitay’s.
