Lauren Holly reportedly criticized her former Any Given Sunday co-star Dennis Quaid’s public support for Donald Trump after Quaid appeared with Trump and Senator Ted Cruz at a Corpus Christi, Texas, event on February 27, 2026. Holly’s reported reaction included the line, “It’s crazy to me at this point,” and a joke recalling a slap she gave Quaid’s character in the 1999 film.
What Holly reportedly said about Quaid’s support for Trump
Yahoo’s February 28, 2026, report says Holly responded on Threads to footage of Quaid saying, “I love Donald Trump,” at the Texas event. The outlet attributed this reaction to her: “It’s crazy to me at this point.” Yahoo’s report and TV Insider’s March 1 report both describe Holly’s comments as criticism of Quaid’s political support.
Why she brought up Any Given Sunday
Holly also reportedly wrote, “At least I got to slap him real hard in Any Given Sunday.” She and Quaid co-starred in the 1999 football drama. The line refers to an on-screen moment in the film; it is not a report of a real-life altercation.
TV Insider additionally reports that Holly replied, “I would if I could,” when a user asked whether she could slap the whole regime. The outlet also says Quaid praised Trump on an episode of The Greg Laurie Show, describing him as “very surprisingly approachable and very funny and really genuine.”

What is confirmed—and what remains attributed reporting
The available account comes from secondary entertainment reports. Yahoo and TV Insider provide a broadly consistent description of the exchange and the event, but the underlying Threads posts, event footage, and podcast audio were not independently authenticated in the reporting summarized here. The quotations should therefore be understood as statements attributed to Holly and Quaid by those outlets, rather than independently verified transcripts.
