Laura Woods said she was okay after collapsing during ITV4’s pre-match coverage on 2 December 2025. She reported that paramedics thought it was “probably just a virus” and said she needed rest and hydration; that was a tentative view relayed by Woods, not a confirmed diagnosis.
What happened during ITV4’s coverage
Woods was presenting pitchside at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton before England’s women’s friendly against Ghana when she fell forward. Pundits Ian Wright and Anita Asante caught her. ITV cut to a commercial break, and Katie Shanahan took over when the programme returned.
Shanahan told viewers Woods had been taken ill and was in good hands. “As you have probably noticed we don’t have the wonderful Laura Woods because she’s just been taken ill. But she’s in very good hands so I’m stepping in at late notice,” she said, according to ITV News.
What Woods said afterward
In an Instagram update reproduced by ITV, Woods wrote: “Gosh that was a bit weird. Sorry to worry everyone, I’m ok, the wonderful paramedics at Saints have said it’s probably just a virus, just need a bit of rest and hydration.” She also thanked her ITV colleagues and Wright and Asante for catching her.
