These photos capture opening night of Lassù, the adults-only “Cosmic Cabaret Saloon” staged at Taylor Reserve in Victoria Park during Fringe World 2025. The season ran from January 15 to February 16, 2025, and has ended; this is a historical gallery, not a current event listing.
Opening night in the big top
PerthNow published its “socials from cosmic cabaret opening night” gallery on January 20, 2025, documenting the debut of Lassù. What Lassù was
PerthNow described the production as a blend of modern and traditional circus, dance and burlesque. It named seventh-generation circus performer and producer Merrik Ashton as the person who brought the show to life, with Helpmann Award-winning choreographer Mitchell Woodcock as creative director. The Scoop’s preview quoted Ashton saying, “I can’t imagine launching Lassù anywhere other than Perth. Though I was born in Sydney, Perth is my adopted home.” Read The Scoop’s preview.

OUTinPerth described circus skills alongside song, dancing, comedy and clowning, and reported fire breathing, tightrope walking, knife throwing and aerial performance. It describes a 90-minute, adults-only show presented by Ashton Legacy Productions. The listing carried advisories for occasional coarse language, audience participation, strong nudity, strobe lighting, live fire and smoke effects.
