First identify where the failure happens: Larix will not open, it cannot connect to YouTube, the stream stops when the screen locks, or the broadcast stays live but drops frames. Those symptoms have different causes. Check YouTube’s account and stream setup first; then investigate background restrictions or network quality. There is no verified, universal MIUI or HyperOS menu path that fixes Larix Broadcaster on every Redmi or Xiaomi phone.
Identify the failure before changing settings
Write down the exact point where things go wrong, along with your phone model and MIUI or HyperOS version. This helps distinguish an app launch problem from a YouTube setup issue or an interrupted connection.
- Larix crashes or will not open: troubleshoot the app itself and check whether an update is available in its Google Play listing.
- Larix opens but will not connect: check the YouTube destination, server URL, and stream key.
- The stream stops when you lock the screen or switch apps: check whether Larix was explicitly closed or restricted from running in the background.
- The stream remains connected but looks choppy or drops frames: investigate upload stability and encoder settings.
Do not assume that every failure on a Xiaomi phone is caused by battery saver. The exact model, software build, and failure symptom matter.
Check YouTube eligibility and stream setup
Confirm the account can go live
YouTube’s published requirements for mobile live streaming include at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, live streaming enabled, and Android 8.0 or later. YouTube says enabling a first live stream may take up to 24 hours. These are YouTube’s mobile-live requirements; an encoder-based setup such as Larix can follow a different path, so confirm the rules for the workflow you are actually using. Verify the YouTube destination details in Larix
For an encoder workflow, YouTube’s setup instructions call for the YouTube Live server URL and stream key to be entered in the encoder. Confirm that both values belong to the intended channel and live event, and that the event is ready in YouTube. A wrong or outdated key, or a URL/key mismatch, can prevent connection even when the phone and app are working. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
Larix Broadcaster’s Android listing identifies YouTube Live as a supported destination and RTMP/RTMPS among its supported protocols. Its available features can depend on the current app edition and listing. Larix Broadcaster on Google Play

Larix stops when the screen locks or the app goes to the background
Softvelum’s Larix FAQ says Android background streaming is available by default and that the app works in the background unless explicitly closed. That describes Larix’s expected behavior; it does not guarantee that every Xiaomi software build will keep it running under every device setting. Larix FAQ
- Start a test stream and note whether it stops immediately when you switch apps, only after locking the screen, or after a longer delay.
- Check whether you swiped Larix away, used a cleaner or task manager, or otherwise explicitly closed it.
- Review your phone’s battery and background-activity controls for Larix. If the device restricts background activity, allow it where your software version provides that option.
- Test again with the screen on, then with the screen locked. This helps isolate a background interruption from a server or network failure.
Menu names and paths vary by model, region, and MIUI or HyperOS version. A support response about Larix Screencaster has recommended “No restrictions” for Xiaomi Battery saver, but that is not a verified universal procedure for Larix Broadcaster on current Redmi/Xiaomi builds. Do not treat a Screencaster instruction as proof that the same setting or result applies to your phone.

YouTube stream keeps dropping frames or looks choppy
If Larix connects but the picture stutters, check the network before changing unrelated phone settings. Softvelum notes that RTMP and RTSP streams may lose frames as network conditions worsen. Its FAQ describes SRT error recovery within the configured latency period and mentions adaptive bitrate for unreliable networks; adaptive bitrate availability depends on the current Larix edition and features. - Run a short test near the router or in a location with stronger mobile data reception.
- If possible, compare Wi-Fi and mobile data. If one works and the other does not, the failing network is a useful lead.
- Reduce the stream’s video demands if upload capacity is inconsistent, then test again. Do not raise bitrate to address dropped frames.
- If using a protocol or adaptive-bitrate option, check Larix’s current documentation and edition details for how that option behaves.
For camera and YouTube Mobile Live integrations, Google’s developer documentation describes requirements for apps that launch YouTube’s Mobile Live flow: Android Marshmallow/API 23 or later, a camera capable of 720p/30, a microphone, specified hardware audio/video encoders, and YouTube app version 13.02 or later. If Larix will not open
A failure to launch is different from a failed YouTube connection. Check the Larix Broadcaster Google Play listing for an available update, restart the phone, and test whether the app opens before starting a stream. If it still closes immediately, note the phone model, Android version, MIUI/HyperOS version, and any error message before contacting app support. The available sources do not establish one Xiaomi-specific setting that resolves launch crashes across devices.
