Larix Broadcaster is free to download and use for mobile live streaming, but its free license is time-limited. Softvelum says streams can run for 30 minutes, continue for another 30 minutes with a mandatory overlay, and then stop. Premium removes the time limit and unlocks additional features. The free app includes a broad set of capture and streaming tools, though individual protocols and capabilities may have restrictions.
What the free version includes
Larix Broadcaster is a mobile app for streaming live video and audio from an iOS or Android phone or tablet. Softvelum describes the vast majority of its features as available for free. Core functions include camera capture, controls for portrait and landscape orientation, front- or rear-camera selection, recording, screenshot saving, pausing, pre-stream standby, and audio-only capture. It can stream to platforms such as YouTube Live, Twitch, and Facebook Live, as well as other destinations.
Softvelum lists SRT, RTMP, NDI, WebRTC, RTSP, Zixi, and RIST among the supported protocols. Support for a protocol does not necessarily mean unlimited use in the free version: Softvelum marks some features as Premium or time-limited, so check its Premium feature and subscription details before choosing a protocol for a long broadcast.
Free streaming limits: duration and overlays
Softvelum’s Premium page states: “Without Premium, Larix allows streaming for 30 minutes for free + another 30 minutes with mandatory overlay. Then the stream is stopped.” In practice, the free tier is suited to testing, short broadcasts, or checking a setup—not an uninterrupted stream that needs to run beyond the allowance.

Zixi has a separate stated limit: five minutes without Premium. Softvelum says SRT and RTMP have watermarks removed by Premium. WebRTC, Zixi, RTSP, and RIST do not have watermarks, but are subject to time limits. The exact restriction therefore depends on the protocol, not just on whether the app is free.
What Premium adds
According to Softvelum, Premium removes the streaming time limit for any protocol. Other listed Premium features include HEVC encoding, SEI NTP metadata insertion, GPS features, Advanced Connectivity settings, three or more simultaneous connections, Larix Talkback, and Dolby HDR support on iOS. The page gives basic US price examples of $9.99 per month or $119 per year for Premium and cautions that checkout prices can vary by country and taxes. It lists NDI support at $19.99 per month in-app, and describes NDI via Larix Tuner at an additional $10 per month. Larix Tuner, listed from $10 per month, is a web service for managing multiple Larix app instances and enabling Premium. These are page-stated examples rather than guaranteed prices everywhere. The page describes one-month and one-year Premium periods; check the current store or checkout offer for your region.
Platform and device differences
Softvelum’s overview states compatibility with iOS 16.0 and Android 7.0 devices. The Android-specific page details SRT Caller, Listen, and Rendezvous modes; RTMP/RTMPS; RIST push; RTSP/RTSPS; adaptive bitrate; camera controls; recording and screenshots; overlays; and external OTG USB video and audio sources. Individual functions may have additional operating-system or hardware requirements.

On Android, multi-camera selection requires Android 10 or later, while simultaneous front- and rear-camera capture requires Android 11 or later and a device capable of using both cameras concurrently. Camera frame rates and other capabilities also depend on the phone’s hardware. Check the current Larix product overview and Android feature page against your device before relying on a particular feature.
Is the free license enough?
- For short mobile broadcasts: the free tier provides capture and streaming features, but plan around the 30-minute period, the additional 30 minutes with an overlay, and the eventual stop.
- For longer broadcasts: Premium is the relevant option if you need the time limit removed; confirm protocol-specific features and current regional pricing before subscribing.
- For several destinations at once: Softvelum lists three or more simultaneous connections among Premium features, so do not assume that multi-destination use is unrestricted on the free tier.
