Laneway Festival returned for a six-city Australia–New Zealand run from 5 to 15 February 2026, with Chappell Roan headlining. The festival has now taken place; its next announced edition is Laneway Festival 2027.
When and where Laneway Festival 2026 took place
The 2026 edition ran from 5 to 15 February, beginning in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland and ending in Whadjuk Noongar/Perth. ABC triple j reported six city dates across Australia and New Zealand:
| City | 2026 date | Venue or reported status |
|---|---|---|
| Auckland | 5 February | Not stated in ABC triple j’s 2025 report. |
| Gold Coast | 7 February | Southport Sharks. |
| Sydney | 8 February | Reported sold out shortly after general sales began. |
| Melbourne | 13 February | Reported sold out shortly after general sales began. |
| Adelaide | Not stated in the available schedule details | The 2026 guide described a new venue; venue name not stated here. |
| Perth | 15 February | The 2026 guide described a new venue; venue name not stated here. |
ABC triple j’s reporting confirms the six-city itinerary and overall 5–15 February dates. It does not establish every city’s specific date or venue in the details summarized here, so those are left unstated rather than inferred. ABC triple j’s 2025 announcement covered the schedule and changes.
Chappell Roan headlined a varied lineup
Chappell Roan was the headline act. The announced bill also included PinkPantheress, Role Model, Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, Lucy Dacus, Cavetown, and a joint appearance by Yung Lean and bladee. The lineup varied between stops: some performers were explicitly listed for East Coast dates only, so the complete bill should not be read as applying to every city.

- Bold pop hooks, sex positivity, honest songwriting and a heavy dose of glitter make up the world of Chappell Roan, the next multi-faceted force in pop music
ABC triple j’s lineup announcement also reported that Sydney’s 8 February and Melbourne’s 13 February shows sold out within an hour of general ticket sales opening in September 2025.
Why the Queensland stop moved from Brisbane
There was no Brisbane stop in 2026: the Queensland event moved to Southport Sharks on the Gold Coast. ABC attributed the change to redevelopment work planned at Brisbane Showgrounds for the 2032 Olympics. The 2026 guide also described new venues for Adelaide and Perth, but the details available here do not name them. ABC’s report on the location changes explains the Brisbane Showgrounds context.

Ticket announcements are historical, not current sales advice
The announcement set presale for 23 September 2025 and general sales for 24 September 2025. Those dates have passed, and the 2026 festival is complete; they are not a route to buying tickets now. Sydney and Melbourne were reported sold out soon after general sale opened, while the cited reports do not establish final ticket status for every other city.
What comes next: Laneway Festival 2027
The next announced edition is Laneway Festival 2027. Its Auckland event page lists Western Springs for Sunday 21 February 2027. That is a separate edition and should not be confused with the 2026 Auckland stop. The official page’s entry guidance applies to that Auckland 2027 event, not retrospectively to 2026; it recommends an empty, soft water bottle, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen, and notes that free drinking-water stations are available. Check the specific event page for current details and rules. Official Laneway Festival Auckland 2027 page.

Laneway’s place in its 21st year
In Variety Australia/New Zealand’s 2026 coverage of Laneway’s 21st anniversary, co-founder Danny Rogers described the festival’s ambition as discovering emerging artists. Variety reproduced his remarks from a Rolling Stone AU/NZ interview: “I’m still more interested in finding who the next Charli is, who the next Fontaines D.C. is, you know,” and “I’d rather the festival be in a position where it can move culture, not just be a follower.” Variety Australia/New Zealand’s coverage.
