Lana Del Rey’s country-album announcement is still unfolding, but *Lasso* is no longer the project’s latest reported title. In July 2026, coverage described the album as *Stove* and reported that Del Rey had also announced a companion record; neither album had a confirmed release date in those reports. Her January 2024 declaration, “We’re going country. It’s happening,” was the beginning of a changing project—not confirmation of a September 2024 release.
Is Lana Del Rey still making a country album?
As of July 2026 reporting, Del Rey was still finishing the project. The FADER reported that she planned to send *Stove* and its companion album to vinyl after they were finalized, while Pitchfork reported that she expected the companion record to be completed within a month. Neither outlet reported a confirmed release date for either album. The status could have changed since those July reports; Del Rey’s official website lists her released singles but does not provide a *Stove* date.

The project was announced as a country-oriented album, but Del Rey did not frame it as a sharp break from her existing music. In an interview with Vogue, quoted by Official Charts in August 2024, she said her albums were generally rooted in Americana and that this one would not be “a heavy departure.” She suggested it might be “a little lighter lyrically” with “classic country, American, or Southern Gothic production.” These were her expectations for the project, not a definitive description of an album that remains unreleased.

The project was described as Del Rey’s 10th studio album in 2024 coverage. That figure refers to its place in her studio-album sequence, not to a released record.
Why did Del Rey call it a country album?
At Billboard’s pre-Grammys event in January 2024, Del Rey announced *Lasso* with collaborator Jack Antonoff and said, “We’re going country. It’s happening.” She also said Antonoff had followed her to Muscle Shoals, Nashville and Mississippi “over the last four years.” That remark points to the places and collaboration behind the announcement; it does not establish that the finished album will adhere to one genre throughout.

Her later description connected the intended sound to Americana and Southern Gothic as well as classic country. Because the record has not been released, listeners cannot yet judge how those influences balance across the album.

At Stagecoach in California on April 25, 2025, Del Rey debuted three additional songs: “Husband of Mine,” “Quiet in the South” and “57.5.” Their performance at the festival does not, by itself, confirm their inclusion on the final album. No complete track list was reported alongside the July 2026 updates.

The FADER reported in July 2026 that Del Rey said she would send both albums to vinyl after finalizing them. That indicates a stated plan, not a confirmed retail release: the reporting did not establish a preorder, edition details or a date. The official site’s reviewed listing includes “Bluebird,” “Henry, Come On,” a store and a live-date notice, but no *Stove* listing.
