Fans reported high prices and seats disappearing quickly during sales for Lady Gaga’s Australian Mayhem Ball dates in December 2025. But the available reporting does not establish that dynamic pricing caused the frustration: Ticketmaster and Ticketek said prices were set in advance, while an expert told ABC that cheaper seats may simply have sold first.
What happened during the Australian ticket sales?
The Mayhem Ball was announced with Australian stadium shows in Melbourne on 5 December 2025, Brisbane on 9 December, and Sydney on 12 December. Sydney Olympic Park’s event page also listed a second Sydney performance on 13 December. These were Gaga’s first Australian dates since 2014. The tour supported her Mayhem album, and the Australian shows have now passed.
ABC reported on 17 April 2025 that some fans were upset by high prices and seats were snapped up quickly. The reporting does not quantify how many people missed out, establish that every show sold out, or provide an Australia-wide measure of unmet demand.
Did dynamic pricing make tickets more expensive?
The contemporaneous ABC report said Ticketmaster denied using dynamic pricing for the Melbourne and Brisbane shows. Sydney tickets sold through Ticketek were also not subject to surge pricing. Ticketmaster said, “Tickets were priced in advance of the sale and set at the individual seat level.” In other words, prices could differ by seat without changing dynamically in response to demand during the sale.

RMIT music industries researcher Sam Whiting told ABC: “I can see why fans have been saying dynamic pricing. I think what happened is all the cheap tickets sold quickly.” That is an explanation offered by an expert, not a measured account of exactly how quickly each price category sold. The reporting supports fan frustration and fast sales, but not the claim that surge pricing caused fans to miss out.
What prices were reported?
ABC reported standard seated tickets at A$350–A$699. It also reported advertised ticket prices, including VIP packages, ranging from A$113.06 to A$1,581.12, plus a A$9.90 handling fee per order. These are figures in the April 2025 report, not a verified complete price list for every date or seat.

| Category reported by ABC in 2025 | Reported amount | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Standard seated tickets | A$350–A$699 | Reported standard-seat range; not the VIP-package range. |
| Advertised prices, including VIP packages | A$113.06–A$1,581.12 | Combined reported range across ticket types; not a complete date-by-date inventory. |
| Handling fee | A$9.90 per order | Reported separately from ticket prices. |
Because ticket type and seat location mattered, a wide spread in advertised prices does not by itself show that the price of a particular seat rose during a sale.
What protections applied to resale tickets?
Victoria declared the Melbourne concert a major event. The Victorian Government said resale for that declared event could not exceed 10% above the original ticket value. That specific cap applied to the Melbourne event; it should not be assumed to cover the Brisbane or Sydney dates. The Premier of Victoria announced the declaration and cap.

For buyers considering resale, Ticketek identifies Marketplace as its official resale platform and says it can verify tickets bought through Ticketek’s website, app, or Marketplace. It says it cannot validate tickets bought from other resale sites or third parties; risks can include cancellation, denied entry, or no assistance if something goes wrong. Check the event’s terms and the resale service’s current status before paying. Ticketek explains which purchases it can verify.
Can more tickets appear after a sale looks finished?
Ticketek’s general guidance says tickets can return when a purchase is not completed, and that promoters or venues may release additional allocations later. This describes possibilities on the platform; it does not establish that any late tickets were released for Gaga’s Australian shows.

For future Ticketek sales, the company advises checking event-specific information, logging in close to sale time, avoiding multiple tabs or devices, and not refreshing a busy queue page. It also notes that presales or early releases can reduce the number available in a general sale. These are general platform instructions, not evidence that a fan’s queue behaviour caused them to miss a ticket. Ticketek’s guidance covers fast sell-outs and later releases.

Sydney Olympic Park expected 70,000 fans each night for its 12 and 13 December shows. That was an expected attendance figure, not a final count of ticket purchasers or people unable to get tickets. It helps convey the scale of the venue events, but does not establish how many fans missed out. The park also said public transport was included with the ticket and advised attendees to plan their journey—information relevant to ticket holders at the time, not a remedy for those without tickets. Sydney Olympic Park’s event page listed the Sydney dates and logistics.
