KPop Demon Hunters was Netflix’s most-watched title in company history in September 2025, according to a Netflix update from that month. That is a dated milestone, not a current chart position. Its Rotten Tomatoes scores, checked October 8, 2026, are strong from both critics and audiences, but those numbers move as reviews and ratings are added.
What the “No. 1” claim measures
The headline combines two different kinds of ranking. They cover different periods and different audiences, so they should be quoted separately.
| Claim | What it measures | Date and scope | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Most-watched title in Netflix history | Cumulative views of movies and series combined, reaching 266 million | Netflix update of September 3, 2025, the point at which the film held the all-time record | Netflix, as reported by Korea.net on September 4, 2025 |
| No. 1 on movie charts | Weekly position on national movie charts, in 35 countries | Week of August 25–31, 2025 | Korea.net, 2025 |
| Current No. 1 on Netflix | Live chart position | Not stated; no current chart source is available for October 2026 | Not stated |
Neither dated claim describes the film’s position today. If you cite the record, attach the September 2025 date to it.
What the film is about
KPop Demon Hunters premiered on June 20, 2025, and was available only on Netflix. It follows Rumi, Mira and Zoey, the members of the K-pop group HUNTR/X, who protect fans from supernatural threats. Their rival is the Saja Boys, a boy band made of demons.

#1 Best Overall
Ian Eisendrath, the film’s executive music producer, described the story’s protective force in Netflix’s Tudum film guide: “When they do that, the Honmoon — which is sort of the power that watches over us and is symbolized as a big circular moon — will turn gold.”
Netflix’s reported viewing and soundtrack figures
Netflix has published several larger totals in its announcements. Each one is company-reported and tied to its own date, so the table keeps them apart.
Rank #2
| Figure | Value | Publisher and date | Scope note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Global views | More than 325 million over 91 days | Netflix partnership announcement, 2025 | Company-reported historical snapshot, not a current total |
| Global soundtrack streams | 8.3 billion | Netflix partnership announcement, 2025 | Dated company total, not a current figure |
| Global soundtrack streams | More than 3 billion | Netflix sing-along article, 2026 | A separate statement; the sources do not explain how it relates to the 8.3 billion figure |
| Sold-out theatrical sing-along screenings | More than 1,000 | Netflix, reported in 2026 | Refers to the 2025 theatrical sing-along event |
The two soundtrack figures differ widely, and Netflix’s statements do not reconcile them. Quote each one with its own date and context rather than combining them.
Critics’ and audience scores
Rotten Tomatoes reports two separate scores. The Tomatometer reflects professional critics. The Popcornmeter reflects verified audience ratings.

The Rotten Tomatoes critics consensus reads: “Animated with infectious energy and vibrant colors, KPop Demon Hunters is jaunty family entertainment with a terrific soundtrack to boot.”
Because both scores are live, quote them with the check date and the count. A small number of new reviews can move a percentage noticeably.
