“Golden,” from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, won Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 68th Grammy Awards on February 1, 2026. The Recording Academy classifies the honor as a songwriting award: it recognizes the song’s credited writers, not simply its performers.
Did “Golden” win a Grammy?
Yes. The Recording Academy lists “Golden — From KPop Demon Hunters” as the winner of Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 2026 Grammy Awards. Netflix confirms the ceremony took place on February 1, 2026. The Academy’s category results and credits and Netflix’s report on the win confirm the result.
What does Best Song Written for Visual Media recognize?
The Recording Academy describes this as “a songwriter’s award.” It recognizes a song whose melody and lyrics were written specifically for, and used in, a motion picture, television show, video game, or other visual media. The 2026 awards covered recordings released from August 31, 2024, through August 30, 2025.
That distinction matters: the award is for the song’s writing, rather than a prize for the vocal performance or for the animated characters. The Academy’s winner listing names the songwriters and identifies HUNTR/X parenthetically; the latter is the performing group.

Who wrote and performed “Golden”?
The Academy credits seven songwriters: EJAE, Park Hong Jun, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seo, and Mark Sonnenblick. It lists HUNTR/X—EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI—in parentheses alongside the credits.
Netflix identifies EJAE as co-writer and the singing voice of Rumi, Audrey Nuna as the voice of Mira, and REI AMI as the voice of Zoey. These are the performers behind the fictional trio’s song, not songwriting credits for the characters themselves.

Why “Golden” is central to the film
In KPop Demon Hunters, “Golden” is both an ambitious pop anthem and a piece of storytelling. Netflix’s creator oral history describes it as the trio’s aspirational song: it introduces personal struggles for Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, reveals Rumi’s secret, and feeds into the climax. The song’s goal of creating the Golden Honmoon connects the plot to the characters’ emotional aims.
Netflix quotes co-director and writer Chris Appelhans describing “Golden” as “both the plot goal of the movie and a vessel for the girls’ personal and emotional goals.” Music supervisor Ian Eisendrath calls it the traditional musical’s “‘I want’ song.” In Netflix’s account, the arrangement shifts from inspirational pop into a more vulnerable passage focused on Rumi, then returns to its aspirational drive.

Netflix’s oral history presents the development as a collaboration among filmmakers Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, producer Michelle Wong, music supervisor Ian Eisendrath, songwriters Mark Sonnenblick and EJAE, and producers and songwriters associated with THEBLACKLABEL. The creative brief, as Netflix describes it, called for a song that could carry character and plot information while still landing as a pop hook.
