Korg’s Handytraxx is a family of portable record players, not one turntable with interchangeable specifications. The official lineup surfaced here includes handytraxx play, handytraxx tube, handytraxx tube J and handytraxx 1bit. Korg positions them for different uses: a reinvention of a classic portable player, portable listening with Nutube phono amplification, a JICO collaboration, and high-resolution conversion, respectively. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent performance findings.
What is the difference between the Korg handytraxx models?
The clearest distinction is each model’s stated emphasis. Korg’s product pages do not provide a fully normalized specification set across all four, so features confirmed for one model should not be assumed for another.

How are the tube’s platter, cartridge and phono stage described?
Korg describes the handytraxx tube as having an aluminium die-cast platter, belt drive with speed monitoring, an MM cartridge and a phono amplifier featuring Nutube technology. The manufacturer also names a JICO MM cartridge for the standard tube model. Korg says the counterweight accommodates cartridges with a recommended tracking pressure of 4 grams or lower; that statement applies to the tube setup and should not be generalized to other Handytraxx models.
Korg presents Nutube as part of the tube model’s sound character, but the available product information does not establish independent listening results or comparative measurements. It is not enough to declare this model the best-sounding option in the family.

- Exact model: “Handytraxx” alone does not identify one fixed set of features.
- Playback and controls: Confirm supported speeds and any controls relevant to your use on the specific model page.
- Outputs and digitization: Do not assume another model has the tube’s USB recording, built-in speakers or headphone connection.
- Cartridge and stylus fit: Check the model-specific cartridge information before buying a replacement or upgrade. The tube and tube J are not interchangeable by name alone.
- Regional details: Verify current stock, price, included accessories, warranty and return terms in your country.
Korg’s handytraxx tube page also reports that U.S. vinyl sales in 2022 exceeded 41 million records and $1.2 billion, compared with 33 million CDs sold for $483 million. These figures are reported by Korg; the underlying industry source is not identified on the product page, so they should be read as Korg-attributed figures rather than independently verified data.
