In June 2025, the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTC Scotland) removed her from the teaching register; a later STV report described the outcome as a two-year teaching ban. The available reporting does not establish the exact terms of her individual order.
How pupils and parents brought the account to the school’s attention
Buchan taught physics at Bannerman High School in Baillieston, Glasgow. According to STV’s July 17, 2025 account, pupils alerted the head teacher to the name “Jessica Jackrabbit.” The following day, a pupil’s parent emailed the school images from the account.
The profile was reported under the name Jessica Jackrabbit or Jessica Jackrabbitx. Coverage described it as advertising explicit photos and videos and using language that referred to teaching. STV reported that the regulator considered whether members of the public, including under-18s, could see the account without logging in or subscribing; that is an allegation discussed in reporting, not an independently verified platform-access test.
Why Buchan resigned, and what happened in 2025
STV reported that Buchan resigned in December 2022 after complaints from parents brought the images to the school’s attention. She was no longer teaching at Bannerman High School when the GTC Scotland hearing took place in June 2025.
STV reported on June 11 that GTC Scotland had struck Buchan off the teaching register, citing the regulator’s conclusion that her behaviour lacked integrity and that she had failed to conceal her identity and profession. In a July 17 report, STV called the outcome a two-year teaching ban and said the hearing ran from June 9 to 12; Buchan did not attend.

What “struck off” and “two-year ban” establish
The two descriptions appear in STV’s coverage, but the individual GTC Scotland decision was not available in the cited reporting. GTC Scotland’s general register guidance says a removal resulting from a fitness-to-teach decision is displayed on the register for two years. That general register-display period does not, by itself, establish the terms of Buchan’s order or a date when she could apply to return.
Accordingly, “struck off” describes the reported register-removal action, while “two-year teaching ban” is STV’s description of the outcome. Without the individual decision, those phrases should not be treated as a precise legal explanation of the order, its duration, or any re-registration restriction.

Reported earnings claim and later HMRC penalty
STV reported that Buchan said she had made £60,000 in one month on OnlyFans. This was her reported claim, not an independently verified earnings figure. In the same June 2025 coverage, STV quoted her as saying to Good Morning Britain: “I didn’t think I would be caught, I didn’t think I would be famous.”

In a separate report dated November 20, 2025, STV said HMRC named Buchan as a deliberate tax defaulter. According to STV’s account of HMRC’s listing, £38,902.37 in tax was defaulted for the period from 6 April 2022 to 5 April 2023, and a penalty of £25,189.28 was imposed. These figures are attributed to STV’s report; the underlying notice is not cited here.
