Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons met while filming Fargo Season 2 in 2015, began dating in 2016, got engaged in 2017, and married in July 2022. Along the way, they welcomed two sons and reunited on screen for The Power of the Dog.
2015: They meet while filming Fargo
Dunst and Plemons met on the set of the second season of Fargo, where they played Peggy and Ed Blumquist, a married couple. Netflix Tudum reports that they quickly became friends. Plemons later recalled, “I knew that she would be in my life for a long time.” That was his reflection on meeting her, not an announcement that they were already a couple. 2016: Their friendship becomes a relationship
Reports place the start of their relationship in 2016, after they had met the year before. Dunst has described missing each other after filming and getting together the following March. That March timing comes from her recollection; it was not a publicly documented announcement date. Netflix Tudum and Entertainment Tonight report the 2016 dating start.
2017: Engagement and first official appearance as a couple
Dunst and Plemons became engaged in 2017. ELLE identifies that year’s Film Independent Spirit Awards as their first official public appearance together as a couple. At the Oscars later that year, Dunst kept the wedding timeline private, telling a reporter, “We have a time frame, but that’s private!” ELLE’s relationship timeline
