The lead defendant, Aomar Aït Khedache, was sentenced to eight years in prison, with five years suspended. But the guilty defendants did not return to prison after the verdict: according to the Associated Press, credit for time already spent in pretrial detention meant none had to serve additional time behind bars.
What the Paris court decided
The verdict came on May 23, 2025, after a trial in Paris. A panel of three judges and six jurors found eight defendants guilty and acquitted two, according to the Associated Press and ABC News.

The distinction matters: the eight were convicted and sentenced. Their not having to return to prison after the verdict did not mean they were acquitted or that no prison terms were imposed.
Sentences and time served
The Associated Press reported that Aomar Aït Khedache, identified in coverage as the ringleader and then 69, received the heaviest sentence: eight years’ imprisonment, with five years suspended. Three other defendants received seven-year terms, with five years suspended. Three more received terms ranging from five to three years, mostly or entirely suspended. The eighth convicted defendant was found guilty on a weapons charge and fined.

According to the AP, time spent in pretrial detention was credited toward the terms, so none of the convicted defendants had to serve additional time in prison after the verdict. The reported outcome was that they walked free from court. A sentence stated on paper and the time a person must serve after a verdict are not the same thing: suspended portions are not served immediately, and time already spent detained can count toward an imposed term.
Why the court imposed measured sentences
Chief judge David De Pas cited defendants’ ages and health issues, as well as the nine years between the robbery and the trial, when explaining the sentences, the AP reported. The judge also told the defendants, “You caused harm” and “You caused fear.”

The 2016 robbery and the 2025 trial
The robbery took place in October 2016, during Paris Fashion Week. Kardashian was held at gunpoint at her lodging and jewelry was stolen. The case involved charges including armed robbery, kidnapping and gang association, according to AP coverage.
The trial took place in Paris in April and May 2025, and Kardashian testified in person. After the verdict, she said she was “deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case,” according to the AP. She had described the robbery as “the most terrifying experience of my life.”

Were the convictions final?
A June 3, 2025 report by 20 Minutes said the deadline to appeal had expired, making the convictions definitive. That finality is reported by the outlet; the account here does not rely on a published written judgment or an independently checked court docket.

The AP and ABC News accounts establish the reported overall verdict, and the AP provides the sentencing breakdown and explanation of why no additional prison time followed the verdict. They do not provide the full written judgment or a complete account of the court’s findings for each defendant. For that reason, individual legal findings beyond the reported charges and outcomes should not be inferred from the headline result.
