Kevin Nash said he thinks CM Punk is “done” after criticizing Punk’s recent performance and ring attire—but the remark was Nash’s opinion, not an announcement that Punk is retiring or a report that WWE plans to move on from him.
What Kevin Nash said about CM Punk
While discussing Punk’s feud with Bron Breakker on the Kliq This podcast, Nash criticized Punk’s punches and perceived speed, then said he thought it was time for Punk to be done and that Breakker should beat him. Cageside Seats reported the remarks on Dec. 29, 2025, and Sports Illustrated published a related report the following day. (Cageside Seats; Sports Illustrated)
“Number two: his punches looked really slow. He looked slow. I think it’s time for him, I think he’s done… I think Bron should beat him.”
The quotation is attributed to Nash in the podcast coverage. It conveys his criticism of Punk’s performance and his view of the feud’s outcome; it does not establish a retirement decision.

Why Nash criticized Punk
Nash’s comments arose in a discussion of Punk’s match presentation, including his choice to wrestle in a T-shirt. Nash objected to the attire and said Punk’s punches looked slow. Those are Nash’s observations and judgments, not an independently measured assessment of Punk’s ability.
Did CM Punk announce he is retiring?
No. The cited reports describe Nash saying that he thinks Punk is done; they do not report Punk announcing retirement or WWE deciding that he should leave. The headline phrase is therefore best read as Nash’s personal assessment of Punk’s performance, not a confirmed career development.

Nash’s separate comment about Gunther
The same coverage also reported Nash’s opinion that Gunther did not have “real heat,” describing the heat as manufactured. That was a separate comment about Gunther, not part of Nash’s criticism of Punk. “Heat” here is wrestling commentary, not a measured audience statistic. (Cageside Seats)

In a Jan. 16, 2026 report, WWF Old School cited a ComingSoon interview in which Punk explained that wearing two shirts at a live event was intended to make people in the ring laugh, not to take a shot at Nash. That later explanation concerns a live-event choice; it is distinct from the Dec. 2025 Raw performance that prompted Nash’s criticism, and it does not confirm a retirement claim. (WWF Old School)
