Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 has no confirmed general-release date in the latest reporting available here. Its planned August 2024 theatrical release was withdrawn, and although the film later premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, that screening did not establish a wider release. The “surprise update” about a new project in the original headline is not substantiated by a reliable announcement identified here.
When will Horizon: Chapter 2 be released?
No confirmed theatrical, streaming or home-media release date is established by the available reporting. New Line Cinema withdrew the film from its planned August 16, 2024 theatrical date. The Washington Post reported that a replacement date had not been set; the studio’s explanation, reported by TheWrap on July 10, 2024, was that the change would give audiences more opportunity to discover the first installment.
That decision was a withdrawal of the scheduled date, not an announced new date. A July 16, 2026 Tribune News Service Q&A reported that Chapter 2 had not been released beyond festival screenings and described the series’ future as unclear. That is the report’s account, not a new official statement from the distributor.
What happened after the theatrical date was withdrawn?
Chapter 2 screened at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival. La Biennale di Venezia announced the film’s world-premiere screening in its festival announcement. A festival premiere is distinct from a general theatrical opening, streaming launch or home-media release; the screening alone does not establish that the film is broadly available to watch.

Is there a confirmed new Kevin Costner project?
The “surprise update revealing new project” wording in the original headline is not supported by a reliably identified announcement here. A September 27, 2026 Paramount+ listing for CBS Sunday Morning describes Horizon as a four-part epic and identifies its first two chapters as theatrical releases, but it does not announce a newly revealed project or provide a Chapter 2 release date. It would be misleading to treat that page as confirmation of the headline’s promised update.

The project has been described as a four-part saga. In an Associated Press interview published May 19, 2024, Costner said he had shot three days of Chapter 3 and still needed to find money to finish it. That comment records what he said at that time; it does not establish Chapter 3’s production status in 2026 or confirm that all four chapters will be completed.

For viewers asking whether the additional parts will arrive, the clearest answer is that the available reporting does not settle the series’ future. Chapter 2 has had a festival screening, but no confirmed wider release date is established here, and the status of later chapters remains uncertain.
