Reports point to objections over the accounts and a no-confidence push; Menon also alleged that people facing allegations were trying to take control. The reported complaints are allegations, not findings of guilt.
What happened at AMMA’s June 21 meeting?
At the annual general body meeting in Kochi, Menon announced that the entire executive committee had resigned after a no-confidence motion was raised. Reports say the resignations came before the motion was formally taken up. Menon also said she was leaving her AMMA membership. Onmanorama’s June 21 report and coverage by The Indian Express describe the announcement and meeting.
Reports differ on how they count the executive body: some call it a 17-member committee, while Cinema Express describes 13 members in addition to the president and general secretary. The committee’s exact size is therefore not stated here as a settled figure.
Why did the executive committee resign?
Accounts and governance were central reported disputes, but coverage does not establish one uncontested explanation for the resignations. Members questioned the association’s annual receipts and payments statement, and reports say the accounts did not receive approval. Some members criticized the outgoing committee’s financial transparency and organizational handling. India Today’s June 22 report describes the accounts dispute and competing explanations.

#1 Best Overall
Menon said the committee faced a no-confidence move and accused people facing allegations of seeking control of AMMA. The Indian Express quoted her: “There are attempts to take the association into the hands of people who are facing allegations. I cannot remain as a puppet.” That is Menon’s account of the dispute, not an independent finding about other members’ motives.
What allegations were reported?
Onmanorama reported several distinct allegations and complaints involving AMMA members and staff. They should not be treated as one case or as proven misconduct:
Rank #2
- Ansiba Hassan alleged derogatory remarks and claims about her religious identity.
- Neena Kurup accused Tiny Tom of attempted physical assault and verbal abuse.
- Former office manager Athulya filed a workplace harassment complaint against general secretary Cuckoo Parameswaran and treasurer Unni Sivapal.
These accounts describe allegations and complaints; the cited report does not establish findings of guilt or their eventual resolution. Onmanorama’s report provides the claims and their attribution.
Who was leading AMMA after the resignations?
June 2026 coverage reported that an ad hoc committee led by actor and MLA Ramesh Pisharody would oversee the association pending a new committee or fresh elections. Cinema Express and The Indian Express reported the interim arrangement. That June report does not establish who leads AMMA as of October 8, 2026.
Rank #3
How is this different from AMMA’s 2024 resignation?
The June 2026 exit was a separate episode from the previous committee’s resignation in August 2024. That earlier committee, led by Mohanlal, resigned after the Hema Committee report became public and sexual misconduct allegations involving some office-bearers were reported. The Times of India said the committee’s press note cited moral responsibility. The Times of India’s August 27, 2024 report covers that earlier resignation.
