She named actors M Mukesh, Maniyanpilla Raju, Idavela Babu and Jayasurya, as well as advocate Chandrasekharan and production controllers Noble and Vichu. These are allegations, not established findings; the report records a denial from Raju and does not establish the outcome of any later investigation or legal proceedings.
Who did Minu Muneer accuse?
In a Facebook post, Muneer accused M Mukesh, Maniyanpilla Raju, Idavela Babu, Jayasurya, advocate Chandrasekharan, and production controllers Noble and Vichu of abuse while she was working on a project in 2013, Scroll reported. Mukesh was identified in the report as a CPI(M) MLA representing Kollam.
Muneer said she had tried to continue working but that the alleged abuse became unbearable. She also wrote that she had left the Malayalam film industry and relocated to Chennai, and said she was seeking justice and accountability. These are statements attributed to Muneer in the report, not findings about the people she accused.
What other incidents did she describe?
In comments to reporters, Muneer described alleged incidents from earlier years. Scroll reported her account of an unidentified actor who allegedly attempted to assault her at a hotel during filming of Calender (2009) and Nadakame Ulakam (2011). She also described alleged unwanted advances and a nighttime visit by another actor, and said a third actor kissed her from behind during a 2008 shoot in Thiruvananthapuram.

What response was reported?
Scroll reported that Maniyanpilla Raju rejected the allegations. The report also quoted him characterizing further claims as motivated by monetary gain or dissatisfaction with film roles. What was the wider Kerala cinema context?
The allegations were reported soon after the Justice Hema Committee report was released on August 19, 2024. Scroll said the committee report identified 17 problems faced by women in Malayalam cinema, including demands for sex, harassment and abuse, and assault in vehicles and accommodation. The figure is a count of problems as described by Scroll, not a prevalence estimate or a count of complainants, and it does not establish Muneer’s individual allegations.
Scroll also reported that the Kerala government formed a seven-member panel of senior police officers on August 25, 2024, to investigate sexual-abuse allegations against prominent members of the Malayalam film industry. The panel’s formation was not a finding about Muneer’s claims, and the cited report does not state an outcome for her allegations.
