Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated May 18, 2024. It was Lamar’s fourth Hot 100 No. 1 as a recording artist, and producer DJ Mustard earned his first No. 1 on the chart as a producer.
What the Hot 100 debut means
The No. 1 position was the song’s entry on the chart dated May 18, 2024—not a later climb to the top. Billboard Canada reported the debut on May 13, noting that it gave Lamar his fourth Hot 100 leader as a recording artist and marked DJ Mustard’s first Hot 100 No. 1 as a producer. Billboard Canada’s chart report covered both milestones.
Release and feud context
Lamar released “Not Like Us” on May 4, 2024, amid his public feud with Drake. Contemporary reporting described it as a diss track and noted that it was being played in clubs soon after its release. The song’s accusations and taunts are part of its lyrics; they should not be treated as independently established facts. The Washington Post’s May 14, 2024 account covered the release context and chart result.
How it performed on the Hot Rap Songs chart
“Not Like Us” also debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart dated May 18, 2024. That chart combines streaming, radio airplay and sales, according to Billboard Canada’s May 15 report.

- 180g black vinyl in a double gatefold jacket
Billboard Canada later reported 70.2 million official U.S. streams for the song in the corresponding tracking week. Keep that figure distinct from the 67.3 million cited in the May 15 Hot Rap Songs coverage: that number belonged to Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy” and was described as a previous weekly hip-hop benchmark, not as “Not Like Us”’s total. Billboard Canada’s June 26 report gives the 70.2 million figure.
