There is not enough reliable evidence to name ten celebrities who avoid Kelly Ripa. The documented accounts paint a more nuanced picture: Ripa described Ryan Seacrest as a longtime friend, characterized her relationship with Regis Philbin as professional but sometimes convivial, and experienced a public workplace rupture with Michael Strahan that Strahan later said did not mean he hated her.
Why a “10 friends and 10 who avoid her” list overstates the evidence
A public co-hosting partnership does not prove a private friendship, and a disagreement or a cooling relationship does not prove that someone deliberately avoids another person. The clearest accounts here come from Ripa and her former co-hosts describing their own relationships. They establish three different kinds of connection—not a verified list of 20 celebrities.
The distinction matters: a stated personal friendship, a professional relationship, and a workplace disagreement are not interchangeable. The people involved also spoke at different times, so their comments document what they said then rather than establishing the current state of any private relationship.
Ryan Seacrest: Ripa described a friendship that predated their show
In an October 26, 2022 Washington Post Live interview with Geoff Edgers, Ripa said she and Seacrest had known each other as friends for two decades before working together on Live. She described their bond as sibling-like: “We’ve been friends for two decades, and so we have a camaraderie. We’re like siblings.”

Ripa said they often had dinner together and expected to remain friends after the show. Those are her first-person descriptions from 2022; they support calling Seacrest a documented friend, but they are not a newer update on their relationship. At a March 4, 2020 Paley Center event, Seacrest praised Ripa as a good person and a colleague he looked up to, while executive producer Michael Gelman described their on- and off-air chemistry as real. The event report is useful context, but Ripa’s own account is the clearest evidence of friendship.
Regis Philbin: a professional relationship with some friendly moments
Ripa and Philbin co-hosted Live With Regis and Kelly from 2001 to 2011. In a 2022 Entertainment Tonight interview, Ripa called theirs “a very professional working relationship” and said they came from different generations, friend groups, and professional backgrounds. She pushed back on the idea that two people who had not first become friends socially should have to perform a close friendship at work.
Ripa’s October 26, 2022 Washington Post Live conversation adds an important qualification. She recalled that Philbin preferred saving conversation for the show, but said that on the few occasions they socialized off camera, “we genuinely enjoyed each other’s company.” Her account describes a professional connection that could be pleasant socially; it does not establish that Philbin avoided or disliked her.
Michael Strahan: a public work dispute is not proof of avoidance
Strahan’s 2016 departure from Live for Good Morning America became a public dispute over communication and how the change was handled. In a 2016 interview with People, as reported by Entertainment Tonight, Strahan said, “At one point I think we were friends,” and recalled that communication had diminished toward the end. That documents a relationship that had cooled around a workplace change, not deliberate avoidance.
In comments reported by TVLine on January 29, 2020, Strahan said he had tried to meet with Ripa regularly and felt the departure had been mishandled. He also directly rejected the claim that he hated her: “If people think, ‘Oh, he hates her’ — I don’t hate her.” Strahan said he respected her professional ability. That later statement is essential context for any account of their tension; the available comments do not support describing him as someone who avoids her.

- Personal friendship: Ripa explicitly described a longstanding friendship with Seacrest in 2022.
- Professional collegiality: Ripa described her relationship with Philbin as professional, while recalling that they enjoyed the occasions they spent together off camera.
- Workplace rupture: Strahan and Ripa had public tension around his departure from Live; Strahan later said he did not hate her and respected her work.
These examples do not verify ten celebrity friendships or ten people who avoid Ripa. Nor do they justify turning a work disagreement into a claim about someone’s private intentions. The most accurate account sticks to what the people involved said and keeps the categories separate.
