What Nicole said in her apology
In the statement reproduced by contemporaneous coverage, Nicole said the posts had resurfaced the previous week and that reading them now was difficult. She wrote: “I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for the hurtful tweets I posted so many years ago.”
She added that she was ashamed she had ever thought or spoken that way, describing the posts as “ignorant, hurtful and completely wrong.” Nicole said she took full responsibility and was sorry to anyone she may have hurt.
What reports say about the posts and her X account
News reports describe the posts as dating from the early 2010s; one gives a 2010–2014 range. They characterize the language as derogatory toward people of several ethnicities and as including homophobic slurs. Those descriptions come from reports about screenshots; the material reviewed does not establish independent authentication of the screenshots.

E! News had previously covered Nicole discussing the effects of online harassment on an episode of Unapologetically Angel. That is context for her reference to a cycle of hate, not evidence of what caused the apology. Coverage also placed the story amid wider online attention around Nicole, but the material reviewed does not establish that a Halloween costume or any other specific event caused the posts to resurface or prompted the timing of her statement.
