Katie Lamb was working in radio for more than a decade before joining Triple M Breakfast with Xavier “Xav” Ellis. Her comedy videos helped bring her to Triple M’s attention, but her path to the Perth breakfast show ran through presenting, production, panel operation and station management.
How Katie Lamb built a radio career before her viral videos
In a profile published on 31 January 2025, PerthNow’s Zach Margolius traced Lamb’s career back to her broadcasting studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2011. She began at Hit 92.9, then joined Nova in 2012.
At Nova, Lamb initially presented weekends and worked in carting during the week—a radio editing and production role. Her responsibilities grew over more than a decade: she presented afternoons, became a panel operator for Nathan, Nat & Shaun, and later took on the station’s operations management.
That mix of on-air and behind-the-scenes work is important context for her move to Triple M. The public profile that came with her social videos was one part of a longer radio career, not its starting point.

From Triple M Rush Hour to breakfast
According to PerthNow, Andrew Embley contacted Lamb about a co-host opening on Triple M’s Rush Hour. She worked with him on the programme for two years before moving to breakfast with Xavier Ellis.
Lamb told Margolius she received the call about the breakfast move late in the previous year. Because the profile appeared on 31 January 2025, that account describes the transition as reported at that time.

Why her comedy clips connect with viewers
Lamb’s videos often turn familiar everyday situations into comedy. As she put it: “Most of my videos you watch, you’re like ‘Oh, yeah, that’s happened to me’, or ‘that happened to somebody I know’.”
PerthNow reported that two of her 2024 TikTok clips had drawn millions of views by the time of its profile: 3.5 million for a hypothetical Married At First Sight matchmaking-panel video and 5.7 million for a parallel-parking video. Those are figures reported by the publication, not independently audited platform totals. The article also said Lamb had more than 50,000 Instagram followers at publication; that is a historical figure, not a current count.

How Lamb says social media and radio support each other
Lamb described the relationship between her online work and broadcasting as reciprocal: “My social media platform really helps bring in an audience to radio and vice versa.” Her explanation is about how she sees her own audiences; it does not establish a broader effect across the radio industry.
Triple M’s official programme listing describes Triple M Breakfast with Xav & Katie as a daily Perth programme presented by Ellis and Lamb. Podcast Republic’s catalogue listed episodes through 7 October 2026, a dated secondary listing rather than evidence about ratings, audience size or a future contract.
