Variety described Hahn as the first woman to show her bare butt in a Marvel Studios project—a distinction that should be kept to that specific wording, rather than extended to every MCU production or all Marvel media.
What happens in the scene?
After breaking free of the Westview persona imposed on her, Agatha rushes outside naked. She later returns indoors, and the episode includes a fleeting view of her bare butt. The moment is staged to conceal other body parts: Variety reported that camera placement and Hahn’s hair provided coverage.
The scene plays as comedy, but it also reflects Agatha’s disorientation and vulnerability as she tries to make sense of what has happened to her. It is not presented as a sexualized interlude.
Why did Kathryn Hahn suggest it?
Variety reported that the script originally had Agatha take a robe. Hahn questioned whether Agatha would stop to get one, reasoning that she would not care about being naked in front of the neighbors. She explained the character logic this way: “I thought it was good to see her as stripped down, literally, as we possibly could, which spoke into her powerlessness at the present moment.”

Premiere director and executive producer Jac Schaeffer approved the suggestion. Hahn recalled, “Well, I came up with it,” and Schaeffer responded, “That is the greatest idea I’ve ever heard.”
In a separate TVLine interview, Schaeffer described the scene’s intent: “It is not exploitative, it is not sexual…. It is about this witch and what her priorities are.”

What does “first woman in the MCU” mean here?
Variety framed Hahn as the first woman to show her bare butt in a Marvel Studios project. That is the substantiated distinction in the available reporting. Neither Variety nor TVLine cites a formal Marvel record establishing a broader first across every MCU production or every Marvel-branded film and series, so the claim should not be expanded beyond Variety’s stated scope.
