Kashin Koji’s revealed power is Prescience, a shinjutsu that lets him see branching possible futures. It gives him information he can use to prepare for danger and teach techniques before someone would otherwise learn them—but it does not show one guaranteed outcome. The official Boruto Database says Amado’s transplantation of Shibai Otsutsuki’s cells enabled Koji to manifest the ability when he was near death.
What is Kashin Koji’s power?
Prescience is the name the NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE’s Boruto Database gives to Koji’s ability, and it classifies it as a shinjutsu. The database describes Koji seeing possible futures unfold “like scenes on a film reel.” Crucially, those visions include futures that will never happen. Prescience is therefore a view of possibilities, not a prophecy that fixes the future in advance.

How did Koji gain Prescience?
According to the Boruto Database entry “Boruto Database: Prescience,” published February 11, 2025, Amado transplanted cells from Shibai Otsutsuki into Koji. Koji manifested Prescience when he was near death. That is the official explanation for the source and emergence of the ability; it does not, by itself, establish every detail of Koji’s identity or history.
What can Prescience do?
Show multiple possible futures
Koji can observe futures as they branch, including paths that will not be realized. A vision can inform him about what might happen, but it should not be read as proof that a particular event must happen.

Provide intelligence and help him prepare
The database calls the ability to obtain future information Prescience’s biggest advantage: Koji can use what he sees to prepare for potential emergencies. Its value is practical, but conditional—information about a possible future is not the same as certainty about which future will occur.
Teach techniques ahead of time
Koji can also use future knowledge to teach someone a technique they would otherwise learn later. That makes Prescience useful not only for anticipating danger but for changing what people can do in the present.

Why does knowing the future change it?
The official explanation says that as possible futures become known to the wielder, they diverge further from the path of fate. In other words, seeing a future can affect the choices and preparations that shape what happens next; the vision is not a sealed script. Koji calls those who destabilize the future in this way “singularities of fate.” The term describes their effect on the future, not a guarantee that Koji can control every outcome.
Is Boruto’s future vision the same as Koji’s?
No. In an official author Q&A, Mikio Ikemoto answers a reader who asks whether Boruto’s glimpses of the future while talking with Amado are connected to Koji’s Prescience. Ikemoto attributes those glimpses to Momoshiki. He says Momoshiki’s ability resembles Prescience, but it is not established as a shinjutsu and has only part of Prescience’s functionality.

| Comparison | Koji Kashin | Momoshiki |
|---|---|---|
| Ability and classification | Prescience; explicitly identified as a shinjutsu by the official Boruto Database. | Future glimpses attributed to Momoshiki by Ikemoto; not established as a shinjutsu in the Q&A. |
| Scope described | Possible futures branch, including futures that will not occur. | Ikemoto describes seeing pieces of the future and says the ability has only part of Prescience’s functionality. |
| Uses established in the sources | Future intelligence, emergency preparation, and teaching techniques early. | The Q&A does not establish those same applications for Momoshiki. |
| What it says about certainty | Shows possibilities rather than guaranteeing one fixed outcome; awareness can make futures diverge further from fate. | The Q&A’s comparison does not establish an equivalent account of how Momoshiki’s glimpses affect fate. |
Why Koji’s revelation matters to his story
Koji’s Prescience connects him to the story as a source of future intelligence and as someone who can pass useful techniques to others. It also gives his knowledge a built-in uncertainty: the futures he sees may not come to pass, and knowing them can help change their course.
Before this reveal, Koji was introduced as a member of Kara. An official Boruto birthday retrospective recalls his use of toad summons and the Rasengan, techniques associated with Konoha, and recounts that he and Amado turned against Jigen. That background made questions about his abilities and allegiance conspicuous, but those details should not be treated as proof of a complete account of his origin.

What the official explanation does—and does not—confirm
The official Boruto Database entry and Ikemoto’s Q&A establish the core explanation of Prescience and distinguish it from Momoshiki’s future glimpses. They do not settle every later development involving Koji through October 8, 2026. This explanation therefore sticks to what those official sources establish rather than treating later-chapter speculation or unverified status updates as canon.
