¿Qué pasó con la cuenta de X de Karla Sofía Gascón?
El 31 de enero de 2025, EFE y Associated Press (AP) informaron que Gascón había cerrado o desactivado su cuenta de X, la plataforma antes conocida como Twitter. La palabra «borró» puede sugerir una eliminación permanente, pero los informes contemporáneos describieron una cuenta desactivada o cerrada; no establecieron que el perfil hubiera sido eliminado de forma definitiva. ¿Por qué la cerró?
Gascón explicó que tomó la decisión a petición de su familia. En una declaración citada por AP, dijo que ya no podía permitir que una campaña de odio y desinformación afectara a su familia ni a ella. EFE informó además que la actriz dijo haber recibido amenazas de muerte, insultos y acoso. Esas descripciones corresponden a lo que ella manifestó, no a una evaluación independiente de cada mensaje o amenaza.
La decisión llegó después de que publicaciones antiguas suyas resurgieran y provocaran críticas. Los reportes mencionaron comentarios sobre el islam y los musulmanes, George Floyd y la diversidad en los premios Óscar de 2021. EFE señaló que Variety había difundido las publicaciones; El Tiempo informó que la periodista Sarah Hagi compartió capturas. Esos informes describen publicaciones atribuidas a Gascón, pero no constituyen una verificación independiente del archivo original de X.

Qué dijo Gascón sobre las publicaciones y las críticas
AP citó su disculpa: «Como alguien perteneciente a una comunidad marginada, conozco muy bien este sufrimiento y lamento profundamente haber causado dolor a quienes lo han sentido» (traducción del inglés). EFE también recogió su explicación de que había usado las redes sociales como un diario, para reflexiones o apuntes, y que algunas de sus opiniones habían sido equivocadas y habían cambiado con su experiencia. Según EFE, pidió disculpas por publicaciones que dijo que a veces no había reconocido como negativas.
Sobre el cierre, la declaración reproducida por AP decía que, a petición de su familia, cerraba su cuenta porque ya no podía permitir que «esta campaña de odio y desinformación» los afectara. EFE recogió una explicación similar y señaló que Gascón se disculpó por haberse visto envuelta en una red social que, en sus palabras, había tomado un rumbo terrible.

Los reportes de EFE, AP y otros medios citados documentan lo sucedido el 31 de enero de 2025; no permiten confirmar si el perfil sigue desactivado, si fue reactivado después o si Gascón volvió a pronunciarse sobre la cuenta. Por eso, la respuesta precisa es que la cerró o desactivó en esa fecha, no que esté necesariamente borrada o inaccesible hoy.
