By May 2019, Karla Monroig said she and singer Tommy Torres had reconciled after separating in February 2018. They moved back in together and decided to start over. That reunion is a dated account, not their present relationship status: on September 2, 2025, Telemundo reported that Monroig said she was in the process of divorcing Torres.
Why Karla Monroig and Tommy Torres separated
Monroig discussed the breakup in a May 7, 2019 interview with People en Español. The couple had announced their separation in February 2018, after ten years of marriage. She described the period as painful and said their differences may have contributed to the split. She also said there were no third parties involved.

“Our separation was one of the most difficult and painful times of my life,” Monroig told the publication. She said the time apart helped them understand what they wanted and work on their problems: “When we took that pause we realized what we really wanted and were able to work on the things we had to work on.”
How they reunited in 2019
Monroig said she and Torres spent Christmas together as a family, rekindled their relationship, moved back in together, and chose to begin again. She described them as happy at the time and said they were taking their love “one day at a time.” Her description—“In the here and now we are happy”—referred to their situation during that 2019 interview.

What changed after the reunion
On September 2, 2025, Telemundo reported that Monroig said on Hoy Día that she and Torres were in the process of divorcing. ¡HOLA!, reporting the next day, quoted her describing the process after 20 years together and about 16–17 years of marriage. Her statement was: “Estamos en un proceso de divorcio luego de 20 años juntos, unos 16, casi 17 años de casados.”
The reports establish that Monroig announced a divorce process; they do not establish the final status of legal proceedings today. The timeline is therefore: separation announced in February 2018, reconciliation described in May 2019, and a divorce process reported in September 2025.
