KAOS is a contemporary dark-comedy fantasy series that reworks Greek mythology around Jeff Goldblum’s Zeus. Netflix lists eight episodes. You do not need prior knowledge of the myths to follow the show, though familiarity with them can add context to its choices.
What is KAOS about?
Created by Charlie Covell, KAOS places Greek gods and mythic stories in a contemporary setting. Netflix describes it as a dark comedy and fantasy series; the production company SISTER calls it an eight-part spin on Greek myths about love, power and the Underworld. It is a modern reimagining, not a faithful retelling of a single classical source.
The premise brings Zeus and other mythological figures into a story concerned with power, gender politics and life in the Underworld. Those themes also appeared in Netflix’s original commissioning announcement. Netflix Tudum’s series overview introduces the released show and its central cast, while Netflix’s commissioning announcement records the earlier development framing.
Who stars in it?
Jeff Goldblum stars as Zeus. Netflix identifies Charlie Covell as the creator. The series’ ensemble includes performers portraying gods, mortals and figures from Greek myth; the story’s contemporary setting gives those familiar names and relationships a new dramatic context.

How many episodes are there?
Netflix lists eight episodes for the released series. The commissioning announcement initially described a planned ten-episode order, but that was an earlier plan; the finished season is listed as eight episodes on Netflix’s official title page.
Do you need to know Greek mythology first?
No. Netflix’s viewer-facing guidance asks whether viewers need to know Greek mythology to watch KAOS; prior knowledge is not required. The plot can be approached as a contemporary fantasy and dark comedy. Knowing the myths is optional enrichment: it may help you recognize which characters, relationships and stories the series has adapted or changed.
Rank #2
The show should not be treated as a definitive guide to Greek mythology. Classical myths exist in multiple versions, and KAOS deliberately reshapes them for its own story.
Where can you watch KAOS?
Netflix is the listed viewing platform. Catalog availability can vary by country, so check the Netflix title page in your region for current access. Netflix Tudum wrote at the series’ 2024 launch, “All eight episodes of KAOS are now streaming on Netflix”; the current title page is the better place to check availability today.

Is a mythology book necessary?
No companion book is required, and no specific official tie-in is established. A general Greek mythology reference book can be useful if you want background on the myths the show reworks, but it is supplemental reading rather than a viewing prerequisite.
