The family sold the ranch to West in 2019, according to Cowboy State Daily. This was Bighorn Mountain Ranch—not West’s separate Monster Lake Ranch near Cody.
Which Wyoming ranch did Kanye West sell?
The reported sale involved Bighorn Mountain Ranch, a 6,713-acre property near Greybull. Cowboy State Daily reported on October 17, 2025, that the Flitner family bought the ranch back from West. David and Paula Flitner had sold it to him in 2019, according to the same account.
The distinction matters because West also bought Monster Lake Ranch, near Cody, a separate property. The two ranches are not interchangeable, and the reported $14 million sale concerns Bighorn Mountain Ranch.
What was the reported sale price?
Cowboy State Daily reported a $14 million price for Bighorn Mountain Ranch. Architectural Digest and Realtor.com also reported that figure, citing Cowboy State Daily. Those reports corroborate the reported amount but do not constitute independent confirmation of the transaction from a reviewed deed or county filing.

How is the sale different from Monster Lake Ranch?
| Property | Location | Reported acreage | Status in October 2025 reporting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bighorn Mountain Ranch | Near Greybull, Wyoming | 6,713 acres, according to Cowboy State Daily | Reported sold back to the Flitner family for $14 million |
| Monster Lake Ranch | Near Cody, Wyoming | 3,885 acres, according to Cowboy State Daily | Reported listed for $12 million when Cowboy State Daily published its October 2025 account; that time-bound status may have changed |
The ranches were bought separately in 2019, with Monster Lake Ranch acquired a few months before Bighorn Mountain Ranch, according to Cowboy State Daily. The $12 million figure was an asking price for Monster Lake Ranch at the time of that report, not a sale price for Bighorn Mountain Ranch.
What is reported about the transaction record?
Architectural Digest reported that the record was notarized in Zurich by Bianca Censori on West’s behalf. Realtor.com, citing Cowboy State Daily, placed the notarization on September 17. These are reported details; the underlying transfer instrument and county records have not been independently reviewed here.

What is known—and not established—about why he sold?
The reported transaction establishes that the ranch changed hands according to media accounts; it does not establish West’s motive or prove that financial distress caused the sale. Coverage of his finances or other circumstances cannot, by itself, explain why this property was sold.
Architectural Digest attributed the statement “did not knock down any of the buildings” to owner Pam Flitner, presenting it as an allegation about West’s treatment of the property. That statement should be understood as her attributed claim, not as an independently established finding.
