The reliable sources available here confirm a musical connection between Kanye West and Rihanna, not a romantic relationship. They worked together on “All of the Lights” and “FourFiveSeconds,” but those credits do not establish that they dated. Whether they ever had a private relationship remains unverified.
Did Kanye West and Rihanna date?
No reliable first-hand statement or authoritative reporting in the sources reviewed confirms that Rihanna and West were romantically involved. That means a romance is unverified—not that the available information proves nothing private ever happened. There is no substantiated dating timeline to report, and their collaborations or public association should not be treated as evidence that they were a couple.

What is confirmed about their connection?
“All of the Lights”
Rihanna is one of several vocal contributors on Kanye West’s “All of the Lights,” a track from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Universal Music’s page also identifies Kid Cudi and other contributors, so the credit describes an ensemble track rather than a Rihanna-only collaboration. Universal Music’s “All Of The Lights” page
“FourFiveSeconds”
Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney are credited on “FourFiveSeconds.” Apple Music’s US single listing gives January 24, 2015 as its release date. Universal Music Germany lists a digital edition dated January 26 and a CD edition dated February 27. These dates refer to different catalog listings and formats, rather than one universal release date. How did “FourFiveSeconds” come together?
Paul McCartney’s account of the sessions provides first-hand context for the professional collaboration. He wrote that West sent him “FourFiveSeconds” shortly before New Year and that he had not known West was working on it with Rihanna. McCartney also recalled spending a few afternoons with West in Los Angeles exchanging ideas and recording material. His account describes songwriting and recording—not a romantic relationship. The credits establish that Rihanna and West shared professional music projects. They do not confirm that the two dated, and the available sources do not establish that “FourFiveSeconds” was about a relationship between them. The responsible answer is limited: their musical collaboration is documented; a romance is not verified.
