Narumi does not consider Kafka a useful soldier. Kafka must therefore show that he can serve the Defense Force while controlling the power of Kaiju No. 8—the same power that makes others fear him. Meanwhile, Kaiju No. 9’s threat escalates. The official synopsis also points to inherited will and power, new users compatible with Numbers weapons, and a major crisis for the Defense Force. It establishes the season’s central conflict without requiring an episode-by-episode recap. Read the official Season 2 synopsis.

Those updates concern the short animation; they do not give the Final Chapter a release date. Read the short-animation announcement.
Who made Season 2, and what are its theme songs?
Production I.G animated the season. Shigeyuki Miya directed, Ichiro Okouchi handled series composition and screenplay, Tetsuya Nishio worked on character design and chief animation direction, and Mahiro Maeda handled kaiju design.
