Australian singer and TikTok creator Kaia Kingsley and WAFL player Samuel Stubbs announced their engagement in September 2024. Their story began with a TikTok: Stubbs asked viewers to help identify a woman he had seen in Queensland, Kingsley responded with a duet, and the two went on a first date.
How Kaia Kingsley and Samuel Stubbs met
In October 2022, Stubbs posted a TikTok showing a woman on a swing outside a house where he was staying in Queensland and asked viewers if they knew her. PerthNow reported that the video had more than 340,000 views. Kingsley saw it and responded with a duet; the two then met for their first date. PerthNow reported the story on 4 September 2024.
Kingsley described the chance meeting as a result of the platform and its users: “We found each other on the platform with the help of the TikTok community and when we finally met in person, we knew it was meant to be,” she told PerthNow.
When and where Stubbs proposed
PerthNow reported that the couple announced their engagement on 4 September 2024, nearly two years after their TikTok story first drew attention. Kingsley said Stubbs proposed during a last-minute trip to Shark Bay. She recalled that his attention to the clouds and weather, along with his nervousness, made her suspect that something was happening.

What the couple said about wedding plans
At the time of the 2024 report, Kingsley and Stubbs were planning to marry in roughly six to twelve months. That was their stated estimate then, not confirmation of a later wedding date or outcome.
They faced a practical location dilemma: Kingsley’s family and friends were in Queensland and Melbourne, while most of Stubbs’s were in Western Australia. Kingsley also said saving for a house while covering wedding expenses was challenging. The report did not name a venue or describe a final decision.

Who are Kaia Kingsley and Samuel Stubbs?
PerthNow described Kingsley as an Australian singer and TikTok creator. Its report said she had more than 180,000 TikTok followers at the time of publication in September 2024; that is a historical figure, not a current count.
A National Indigenous Times profile published in August 2022 identified Stubbs as a Wangkatha man and a Perth Football Club WAFL player, and described his TikTok videos as featuring dance, culture and football. In discussing his videos, Stubbs said: “I started with just shaking a leg and just having a dance, sharing culture, dancing way.”
