In November 2016, Justin Bieber sat on the floor with fans at Barcelona airport in Spain, spoke with them and hugged them. Contemporary reports agree on the encounter but differ on its exact day.
What happened at Barcelona airport?
Entertainment outlets reported that Bieber stopped to greet fans waiting at Barcelona airport. EGO published photographs of him talking and hugging fans; Capricho reported that he asked the group to sit down and hugged them after their conversation. The accounts describe an informal airport greeting, not an announced or official meet-and-greet. EGO · Capricho

When did the encounter happen?
The reports place the visit in November 2016, during Bieber’s Spain stop for the Purpose Tour. The precise day is disputed: EGO’s November 21 article identifies the photos as taken on Saturday, November 19; TMZ’s November 21 report says fans waited Sunday night; Capricho’s November 21 article and Europa FM’s November 23 report describe his arrival as Monday, November 21. The available accounts do not resolve the discrepancy, so November 2016 is the reliable date. TMZ · Europa FM
How does the airport greeting fit the Spain visit?
EGO reported that Bieber was in Barcelona for the Purpose Tour and was scheduled to perform there on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Europa FM’s November 23 report also discusses a separate altercation with a fan on the following day, en route to the concert. That incident was distinct from the airport greeting. None of the cited accounts supplies a direct quote from Bieber about the airport exchange or establishes why he chose to stop.
