The court dismissed their amended complaint in June 2025; the $400 million was a demand, not an award. Taylor Swift was mentioned in the dispute but was not named as a defendant.
What did Baldoni and Wayfarer accuse Blake Lively of?
In the complaint filed on January 16, 2025, Baldoni and the other Wayfarer plaintiffs alleged that Lively and people around her seized creative control of It Ends With Us and carried out a campaign that harmed Baldoni’s reputation. Those claims were the plaintiffs’ account of the dispute, not established facts.

The complaint asserted civil extortion, defamation, false light, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, intentional interference with contractual relations, and intentional and negligent interference with prospective economic advantage. The defendants named were Lively, Ryan Reynolds, publicist Leslie Sloane, and Vision PR.
Why was Taylor Swift mentioned, and was she sued?
Swift was not a defendant in the Wayfarer lawsuit. She entered public coverage because Baldoni’s side alleged that Lively invoked her friendship with Swift and Reynolds during a disagreement about script changes and creative control. That allegation does not establish that Swift pressured anyone or took part in the alleged conduct.

A January 2026 filing included text messages between Lively and Swift, as reported by ABC News. The messages drew renewed attention to their relationship and the surrounding dispute, but a private conversation by itself does not decide whether either side’s broader allegations are true or create legal liability for Swift.

What did the dismissal decide—and what did it not decide?
The dismissal concerned the legal sufficiency of the amended complaint. It was not a finding that every event described by either side had or had not happened. In the June 9, 2025 opinion, Judge Liman wrote: “At this stage of proceedings, the Court has not considered whether the allegations in the Amended Complaint are true.”

The court gave the plaintiffs a narrow opportunity to amend specified contract and interference claims, but the later court account says no further complaint was filed. The ruling therefore should not be recast either as proof of the Wayfarer plaintiffs’ accusations or as a trial verdict resolving all disputed conduct.

The Associated Press reported a settlement of the remaining claims in Lively’s action, but the available sources do not establish its terms. The fee and cost order is a separate court ruling in that case; it is not damages awarded to Lively on Wayfarer’s dismissed $400 million demand.
