Just Alice turns a wild romantic premise into a 19-episode Colombian dramedy: Alicia secretly marries both a famous writer and a former priest, then tries to keep her two lives from colliding. It has the makings of a twist-heavy binge, though its appeal depends on whether you enjoy melodrama more than airtight plausibility.
What is Just Alice about?
Netflix sums up the hook: “Torn between two loves, Alicia secretly marries both a famous writer and a former priest. How long can she juggle love, lies and her double life?” The secret marriages are the show’s central engine, setting up the lies, romantic complications and escalating situations that give it a soapy feel. Netflix’s US title page identifies Verónica Orozco, Sebastián Carvajal and Michel Brown as the leads.
Is Just Alice a romantic comedy or a drama?
It is best described as a romantic dramedy with soap-opera energy, rather than a straight comedy. Netflix categorizes it as both a romantic drama and a comedy series, and uses descriptors including soapy, romantic, dramedy and forbidden love. The balance is a matter of taste: one critic calls it a fast-paced comedy, while others emphasize its predictability and heightened drama.
Is Just Alice worth watching?
It may suit viewers looking for an extravagant relationship story driven by secrets and cliffhangers. The central setup is easy to grasp and inherently unstable: Alicia has to sustain two marriages without letting either husband discover the other. That gives the show plenty of room for complications, but also asks viewers to accept a premise that critics have found hard to sustain over a full season.

Reception is mixed, and the available sample is small. Rotten Tomatoes’ Season 1 page displays three critic reviews and fewer than 50 audience ratings. Joly Herman of Common Sense Media rated it 3/5 and described it as a fast-paced Colombian comedy. Srijoni Rudra of Digital Mafia Talkies called it predictable and highly dramatized, while Decider’s Joel Keller praised Orozco as a charming lead but questioned the premise’s ability to carry the season. These are individual reactions, not a broad critical consensus.
How many episodes are in Just Alice?
The first season has 19 episodes, so this is a substantial binge rather than a short series. The British Board of Film Classification records runtimes from 34 minutes 22 seconds to 45 minutes 6 seconds per episode. Together, those published runtimes put the season at roughly 11 to 14 hours, depending on the episodes; the BBFC lists sex and language among its content descriptors.
