Brooklynn works with Soyona Santos, the Broker behind the dinosaur-trafficking network, as an undercover investigator—not because she has switched sides. Once she discovers Santos’s operation is connected to Biosyn, she chooses to remain undercover longer and look for a way to stop it. Her friends see only that she leaves with their enemy, so the choice lands as a betrayal.
Why does Brooklynn stay with her biggest enemy?
Brooklynn is trying to expose the trafficking operation from inside it. She has already been working undercover with the Broker, Soyona Santos, and is ready to return to her friends. But then she learns Santos is working with Biosyn, the genetics company associated with the wider Jurassic story. That discovery changes her decision: Brooklynn stays with Santos to learn more and find a way to stop the operation.
Showrunner and executive producer Scott Kreamer explained the turn in an interview with Animation World Network: Brooklynn discovers the Biosyn connection just as she is preparing to go back, and decides to stay with Santos “a while longer” to try to stop her. The partnership is therefore a dangerous investigative choice, not an indication that Brooklynn has embraced Santos’s goals.
Who is the Broker, and what does the group know?
The Broker is Soyona Santos, the trafficker the Nublar Six are trying to identify as they investigate a global dinosaur-smuggling network. Santos also appears in Jurassic World Dominion. The connection between the animated series and the film gives Brooklynn’s undercover assignment a familiar face, but it does not make Santos any less dangerous.

Season 2 follows the Nublar Six’s investigation while Brooklynn pursues her own path. Because the group does not know the full reason she is staying with Santos, they interpret her departure through what they can see: she is leaving with the person they are trying to expose.
Why did Brooklynn’s friends think she was dead?
Brooklynn survived the dinosaur attack that separated her from the group, but she lost part of her left arm. Her friends believed she had died, and her survival—and the injury—reframes the loss that has shaped their investigation and relationships.

Kreamer said the injury makes the danger of the attack tangible rather than suggesting Brooklynn simply escaped unharmed. The production consulted people with limb differences, and Brooklynn’s voice actor, Kiersten Kelly, also has a limb difference. The series uses the injury as part of Brooklynn’s story rather than treating survival as a return to her previous circumstances.
What the Season 2 ending means for the Nublar Six
At the end of the season, Brooklynn’s friends see that she is alive, but she appears to turn away from them and remain with Santos. They have no clear view of her undercover purpose or the Biosyn lead that prompted her to stay. For them, the reunion looks less like a rescue than a fresh rejection.

That gap between Brooklynn’s intent and her friends’ understanding is the point of the cliffhanger. She believes the investigation is unfinished and that staying close to Santos may help stop it; her friends see someone they mourned choosing the enemy over them. The next conflict is not simply whether Brooklynn is loyal, but whether she can keep working undercover without losing the trust she hopes to return to.
