Julie Andrews has three daughters: Emma Walton Hamilton, her daughter with first husband Tony Walton, and Amy and Joanna, whom Andrews adopted with her second husband, Blake Edwards. Emma is a writer and educator who has collaborated with Andrews on books and children’s media. The available reliable sources establish Amy and Joanna’s place in the family, but offer little detail about their careers or private lives.
Who are Julie Andrews’ daughters?
The three daughters are Emma Walton Hamilton, Amy and Joanna. They are part of a blended family formed across Andrews’ two marriages, rather than three daughters from the same marriage.
- Emma Walton Hamilton is Andrews’ daughter with her first husband, theater and film set designer Tony Walton.
- Amy and Joanna were adopted by Andrews and her second husband, filmmaker Blake Edwards.
PBS identifies Amy as Amelia. The available source confirms that name but does not establish a fuller naming history. PBS also describes Edwards’ children Jennifer and Geoffrey from an earlier marriage. The Julie Andrews Collection’s description of Andrews’ blended family as having five children includes Emma, Jennifer, Geoffrey, Amy and Joanna; that is not a count of Andrews’ daughters.
What is known about Emma Walton Hamilton?
Emma has a public career as an author, editor, educator, producer, performer and writing coach, according to her official biography. The biography says she and Andrews have co-authored more than 35 books for children and adults. That figure is the biography’s catalog count, not an independently audited total.

Rank #2
In a PBS NewsHour interview, Andrews and Emma discussed Home Work, Andrews’ memoir about her Hollywood years. Their collaboration gives Emma a particularly visible public connection to her mother’s creative work.
Who are Amy and Joanna?
Amy and Joanna are Andrews and Edwards’ adopted daughters. PBS’s account of the family identifies both daughters and distinguishes them from Emma, who was born during Andrews’ marriage to Walton.
Rank #3
The reliable sources available here do not establish detailed information about Amy’s or Joanna’s current work or personal lives. It would be misleading to fill that gap with guesses about their ages, occupations, locations or relationship to public life.
Are Emma, Amy and Joanna full siblings?
No. Emma is Andrews’ daughter with Tony Walton. Amy and Joanna joined Andrews and Edwards’ family through adoption. They are sisters within Andrews’ blended family, but they do not share the same parentage or family history.

In an August 19, 2026 Vogue interview about Shy, Andrews recalled that her stepdaughter Jennifer would sometimes find a “lost soul,” such as a cat or dog. Jennifer is Edwards’ daughter from an earlier marriage, not one of the three daughters named here. The anecdote offers a glimpse of Andrews’ wider blended family, but it does not provide biographical details about Emma, Amy or Joanna.
