Which Julia Roberts movie made the most money at the box office? In The Numbers’ worldwide-gross rankings, Ocean’s Eleven (2001) leads, narrowly ahead of Pretty Woman (1990). These figures are reported worldwide ticket sales, not movie profits: they do not subtract production or marketing costs or account for how revenue was divided among studios, distributors, theaters, and participants.
Julia Roberts’ top movies by worldwide box-office gross
The ranking below uses the worldwide lifetime grosses listed in The Numbers’ Julia Roberts filmography, checked October 8, 2026. It includes films credited to Roberts in that database, including an ensemble film such as Ocean’s Eleven; it is not a ranking limited to starring roles.

|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ocean’s Eleven | 2001 | $450,717,150 |
| 2 | Pretty Woman | 1990 | $432,566,361 |

What the gross figures show about each film
1. Ocean’s Eleven (2001) — $450,717,150 worldwide
The Numbers places the ensemble crime film at the top of Roberts’ listed worldwide grosses. Its total is about $18.2 million higher than Pretty Woman in this dataset. That is a comparison of reported ticket sales, not evidence that it earned the greatest net profit.

2. Pretty Woman (1990) — $432,566,361 worldwide
The romantic comedy ranks second in The Numbers’ current-seeming listing. The source also records a home-video release on August 30, 2005, by Walt Disney Home Entertainment, but that is separate from the worldwide box-office figure and does not establish current availability of any particular DVD or Blu-ray edition. The Numbers’ Pretty Woman financial page provides the film-level record.
3. Notting Hill (1999) — $363,713,167 worldwide
The romantic comedy is third in The Numbers ranking, more than $68 million below Pretty Woman in that database’s reported totals.
4. My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) — $298,923,419 worldwide
The film’s reported worldwide gross is just under $299 million, placing it fourth among the five films listed here.
5. Erin Brockovich (2000) — $257,805,243 worldwide
The biographical drama rounds out the five highest figures in this selection. The ranking is about gross receipts, not the financial return on its production.
Rank #3
Why another source can rank Pretty Woman first
Guinness World Records’ historical entry identifies Pretty Woman as Roberts’ top-grossing film, giving it a total of US$463.4 million. It lists Notting Hill at US$363.1 million, My Best Friend’s Wedding at US$298.9 million, Erin Brockovich at US$256.6 million, and Ocean’s Eleven at US$238.8 million. That historical list differs both in totals and in the order of the top two films from The Numbers’ later filmography. The available records do not explain precisely why the datasets diverge, so their figures should not be combined into one ranking.
Guinness World Records’ historical record was published about 2005. Its figures are useful as a dated comparison, not as a like-for-like update to The Numbers’ October 2026 snapshot.

Worldwide gross measures ticket sales reported for a film; it does not tell you how much money the film ultimately made for its investors or participants. A profit comparison would need comparable production and marketing costs, distribution arrangements, theater shares, and participant payments. The cited box-office records do not provide those figures, so they cannot establish which Roberts film was most profitable.
