Their teacher, Satoru Gojo, guides them into the dangerous world of curses. Around them are fellow students, school staff, and allies whose abilities and roles fill out the main cast.
Spoiler note: This guide sticks to character introductions and premise-level details. It avoids later-arc plot developments.
The Tokyo first-year trio
Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara are the story’s central student group at Tokyo Jujutsu High. They approach the work of sorcerers differently: Yuji brings unusual resilience and empathy, Megumi is protective and disciplined, and Nobara is fiercely independent.
Yuji Itadori
Yuji is a teenager drawn into the fight against curses after demonstrating an unusual ability to withstand the poison associated with Sukuna. That resilience makes him important to the sorcerers, but his defining role is also human: he enters a frightening supernatural world and must decide how to face it. The official anime character profiles identify his resistance to Sukuna’s poison as a central trait.

Megumi Fushiguro
Megumi is a first-year and a Grade 2 sorcerer in the official profile. He uses the inherited Ten Shadows Technique, but his personal creed matters just as much: he is determined to protect people he cares about. That instinct shapes how he approaches both sorcery and his classmates.
Nobara Kugisaki
Nobara is a Grade 3 sorcerer who moves from the countryside to Tokyo. Strong-willed and clear about her own priorities, she is not simply following the other students’ lead. Her reasons for choosing Tokyo help establish her independence from the outset.
Gojo, their teacher and mentor
Satoru Gojo is a special-grade sorcerer and a teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High. His institutional role is to train the next generation, and he takes an active interest in building capable allies. The official anime profile calls him the strongest sorcerer in the story; that is the profile’s characterization within the fiction, not a real-world or independently measured ranking. A 2023 Bandai Namco game announcement likewise used “strongest” as promotional character copy when describing Gojo, rather than as an independent assessment.
Other Tokyo students
The wider Tokyo school cast includes second-years with very different relationships to cursed energy and combat.

Maki Zen’in
Maki comes from a leading sorcerer family but was born without cursed energy. She compensates with physical ability and cursed tools, making her approach to combat distinct from students who rely on innate techniques.
Toge Inumaki
Toge uses cursed speech, so his words can have dangerous force. He limits ordinary speech to avoid accidentally harming people, a practical constraint that also makes him one of the school’s most unusual communicators.
Panda
Panda is a talking, mutated cursed corpse created by Principal Yaga. Though he looks like a panda and attends as a second-year, he is not an ordinary animal or a typical human sorcerer.

Shoko Ieiri
Shoko is the school physician. She can use reverse cursed technique to heal others, making her medical role a crucial form of support for the sorcerers.
Ijichi
Ijichi handles field logistics. His work supports missions behind the scenes, helping connect the students and sorcerers to the practical arrangements their assignments require.
The Kyoto school connection
Aoi Todo
Todo is a third-year at Kyoto Jujutsu High and a Grade 1 sorcerer. His vivid personality makes him a strong contrast to the Tokyo students, while his school affiliation broadens the story beyond their immediate campus.
Where to find more character profiles
For a longer reference, VIZ lists Jujutsu Kaisen: The Official Character Guide by Gege Akutami, released April 23, 2024. The publisher describes it as a collection of profiles for major characters; its listing gives a length of 232 pages and notes a Kindle format. The official anime character portal also provides biographies, but some entries include later-arc developments beyond this spoiler-conscious overview.
