The available official sources establish important facts about Maki and point to later manga material, but they do not verify ten differences between the manga and anime. A canon detail is not an adaptation change just because it is prominent in one medium. This guide separates what official sources confirm from what needs a direct, scene-by-scene comparison. The anime cutoff here is the official story page’s coverage at the time of writing; it is not a promise that every manga chapter discussed has been adapted.
Can we confirm 10 ways Maki differs in the manga?
No—not from the official sources cited here. They provide useful character and story context, but they do not establish ten instances where the anime omits, adds, or changes material about Maki. Calling those facts “differences” would overstate what the sources show.

To verify a difference, compare the same scene in the manga chapter and released anime episode. Check whether an event or line is absent or added, whether its placement or pacing changes, whether dialogue or exposition differs, and whether staging or fight choreography alters what viewers understand. A change in visual emphasis is not automatically a plot change.
What official sources establish about Maki
Her standing at Tokyo Jujutsu High
The official anime character profile describes Maki as a second-year at Tokyo Jujutsu High, grade 4. It says she has no cursed energy and cannot see curses, while also describing her physical ability as high. These are profile facts, not evidence that the anime and manga introduce or explain her differently.

Her Shibuya injuries
The same official profile records that Maki receives severe burns during her confrontation with Jogo in the Shibuya Incident. It does not compare the manga and anime’s presentation of her injuries; claims about a changed scene, visual emphasis, or pacing would require checking both versions.
Her Zenin family aftermath and the Culling Game
The official anime story page says that Maki has devastated the Zenin family as the Culling Game begins and is headed somewhere. That synopsis establishes broad story context, not the precise sequence of scenes or any adaptation changes.

Where to find Maki’s later manga material
Shueisha’s Volume 22 listing identifies the Sakurajima Colony as a later setting for Maki’s story and lists chapters 191–199. Its Japanese synopsis describes Maki and Noritoshi being driven into difficulty by a cursed spirit connected to Maki’s past. The listing is a useful guide to the manga material, but it does not establish how an anime adaptation handles the same chapters.
That distinction matters for questions about Maki’s relationship with Mai, her place in the Zenin family, the opponent and fight in Sakurajima, or how much of her arc the anime has covered. The official pages cited here do not document those topics as manga-versus-anime changes. To make that claim responsibly, identify the matching chapter and episode and compare what each actually shows.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow to check a claimed manga–anime difference
- Locate the manga scene. Use chapter numbers and volume contents to identify the passage; Volume 22, for example, lists chapters 191–199.
- Find the corresponding released episode. Confirm that it adapts the same events rather than relying on a general story synopsis.
- Compare the evidence. Note specific omissions or additions, changed placement, dialogue or exposition, staging, and fight choreography. Separate a change in events or information from an interpretation about emphasis.
- State the cutoff. Name the anime episode or season covered, since adaptation coverage changes as new episodes are released.
Reading the complete manga
For readers who want to check the source material directly, VIZ’s Jujutsu Kaisen listing identifies Volume 30 as the final volume and lists a complete box set. It also lists Jujutsu Kaisen: The Official Character Guide as a general guide; the listing cited here does not establish what Maki-specific material it contains. Availability, format, and price can vary by retailer.
The official anime story page states that the manga began serialization in March 2018 and concluded in September 2024. Its broad story coverage is useful for context, but it is not a complete episode-to-chapter adaptation guide.
