Spoiler warning: This ranking discusses manga material through chapter 271, the series finale, including late-story weapons and revelations. Anime-only readers should stop here if they want to avoid major spoilers.
There is no official ranking of the strongest cursed tools in Jujutsu Kaisen. This is an editorial list, weighing demonstrated impact, versatility, limitations or setup, how clearly the manga shows an effect, and how much success depends on the wielder. That means an unusual counter can outrank a harder-hitting weapon, while a named tool with little demonstrated ability ranks lower. The manga is Gege Akutami’s series; the publisher’s page lists collected volumes through volume 30: read Jujutsu Kaisen through Shonen Jump.
How this ranking works
“Best” here means most useful or consequential as a weapon, not simply the one with the biggest-looking attack. I prioritize what the manga actually demonstrates over speculation about a tool’s maximum potential. Some entries are powerful because they disrupt an opponent’s technique; others offer straightforward force, unusual reach, or a specialized effect. A ranking is necessarily subjective, and the story does not establish these fifteen as a definitive canon set.
The list includes only named cursed tools or weapons explicitly treated as cursed tools in the manga. It does not fill places with ordinary weapons or unverified names just to reach fifteen. The general range of tools and their fan-maintained reference entries can be surveyed at Jujutsu Kaisen Wiki’s cursed-tool guide; the assessments below are editorial rather than an official statistic.
#1 Best Overall
Jujutsu Kaisen’s 15 best cursed tools, ranked
15. Slaughter Demon
This early-series cursed tool gives the list a useful baseline: it is a named weapon used by Maki and later wielded by Yuji, but the manga does not establish a distinctive special ability for it. Its value is therefore more conventional than that of tools with technique disruption, soul-targeting, or other unusual effects. A weapon can be useful without having a signature power, but there is less evidence for placing it higher in a comparison of special properties.
14. Hiten
Hiten is associated with Sukuna in the Heian era, making its name and provenance intriguing. The manga, however, provides little usable detail about what it does in combat. It belongs in a list of notable named tools, but its position must reflect that lack of demonstrated performance: there is no sound basis for assigning it a particular power or imagining a ceiling beyond what the story shows.
13. Festering Life Sword
The Festering Life Sword’s blade produces insect curses, giving it a disruptive quality that differs from a straightforward blade or blunt weapon. That could complicate an opponent’s response, but the available combat evidence is limited compared with the top entries. Its distinct effect earns a place above tools with no established special property, while the sparse demonstration keeps it in the lower tier.
12. Sword of Extermination
Mahoraga’s blade emits positive energy, a property with obvious significance against cursed spirits. Its anti-curse role is compelling, but its performance is shown in the context of Mahoraga, not as a general-purpose weapon anyone could wield to the same effect. The wielder matters, so this powerful specialized weapon ranks below tools whose practical advantages are more broadly demonstrated.
The Tool Desk

Dragon-Bone stores cursed energy and returns it on contact, combining a reserve with a striking effect. That makes it more versatile than a weapon defined only by raw impact: stored energy can contribute to a hit without requiring the tool to negate a technique or cut a soul. The manga does not establish a precise storage limit, so its ranking rests on the demonstrated combination, not an imagined capacity.
10. Playful Cloud
Playful Cloud is a special-grade three-section staff whose defining trait is “pure solid power,” rather than an embedded cursed technique. That simplicity is also its constraint: it does not offer an automatic counter to techniques or a specialized bypass. Its effectiveness depends heavily on the user’s physical ability and combat skill, but in the hands of a capable wielder its direct force makes it one of the most dependable tools on this list.
9. Chain of a Thousand Miles
The Chain of a Thousand Miles can extend to extraordinary length as long as one end remains hidden. That condition is central to its value. Concealing an end gives the user a way to attack from a distance or create unexpected angles, but the setup is not free: the chain’s reach depends on maintaining the hidden end. It ranks as a tactical weapon, not an unconditional, endlessly usable ranged attack.
8. Black Rope
Black Rope disrupts cursed techniques on contact, which gives it strong utility against opponents who rely on a technique to control a fight. Unlike an effect that applies at any distance, its disruption requires the rope to reach the target. That contact requirement puts the user at risk and makes timing important, but it remains a valuable counter when the wielder can close the gap.

7. Kamutoke
Kamutoke discharges lightning, giving it a ranged offensive option distinct from the close-contact tools above. The manga shows the lightning effect, but does not establish a general range, accuracy, or damage ceiling that would justify treating it as an automatic win. Its combination of a clear offensive property and distance-based threat earns a high place, while the limits of what is shown keep the ranking grounded.
6. Inverted Spear of Heaven
The Inverted Spear of Heaven nullifies cursed techniques it touches. That makes it one of the story’s clearest answers to technique-based advantages: a fighter can be forced to confront the spear rather than rely on a technique to keep them safe. It is not a blanket answer at any distance, though. Its effect depends on contact, and the manga’s demonstrations do not justify claiming it cancels every technique in every circumstance.
5. Split Soul Katana
The Split Soul Katana targets the soul rather than merely cutting the body, allowing it to bypass physical resistance. That is an exceptionally consequential property against opponents who can withstand ordinary damage. The bypass is not the same as an automatic victory: the wielder still has to land a meaningful strike, and the weapon’s advantage is most relevant when the target’s physical toughness would otherwise blunt a conventional attack.
4. Playful Cloud’s strongest rival: the raw-power question
There is no single tool that wins every matchup. Playful Cloud remains the list’s clearest example of force whose result depends on its wielder, while the Split Soul Katana and Inverted Spear of Heaven are valuable because their effects address specific defenses. A ranking that puts only raw power first would miss how much a counter or bypass can change a fight. The top three below offer similarly distinctive advantages, but with especially consequential combat applications.

3. Sword of Extermination
Placed higher here than its earlier specialist assessment might suggest, the Sword of Extermination’s positive-energy emission is exceptionally relevant when the target is a cursed spirit. It can turn the nature of the weapon’s energy into a direct threat rather than relying on ordinary physical damage. The qualification remains important: its strongest showing is tied to Mahoraga, so its ranking reflects demonstrated anti-curse significance, not proof that every wielder would reproduce that performance.
2. Black Rope
Technique disruption is one of the most useful weapon properties in a series where cursed techniques can determine the shape of a fight. Black Rope’s contact condition makes it less broadly threatening than an effect that works at range, but successful contact can interrupt an opponent’s core advantage. That combination of high tactical impact and a clear, meaningful limitation makes it one of the strongest practical counters.
1. Inverted Spear of Heaven
The Inverted Spear of Heaven takes the top spot because its technique-nullifying effect is both decisive and clearly defined: it cancels a cursed technique on contact. This can undermine abilities that would otherwise dominate an encounter, giving the weapon exceptional consequence beyond its physical strike. The ranking is about demonstrated utility, not an assertion that the spear defeats every opponent. The contact requirement and the need to reach the target remain real constraints.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is the strongest cursed tool in Jujutsu Kaisen?
By this ranking’s criteria, it is the Inverted Spear of Heaven, because touching a target can nullify a cursed technique. That is an editorial verdict, not a canon declaration. In a matchup where contact is difficult or the target’s advantage does not depend on a technique, a different tool could be more useful.
Best Value
What does the Inverted Spear of Heaven do?
It nullifies cursed techniques it touches. The manga supports that contact-based description; it does not support treating the spear as a universal, unlimited counter at any range.
Which cursed tool can cut the soul?
The Split Soul Katana targets the soul and can bypass physical resistance. Its effect makes it dangerous against durable opponents, but the user still has to land a strike.
Can cursed tools cancel cursed techniques?
Some can disrupt or nullify techniques. The Inverted Spear of Heaven nullifies on contact, while Black Rope disrupts techniques when it makes contact. These are properties of particular tools, not a general ability shared by all cursed tools.
