Joshua Allen, the dancer and actor who won season four of So You Think You Can Dance in 2008, died in Fort Worth on September 30, 2025, at age 36. Initial local reports said he was struck by a train; a later report attributed the medical examiner’s ruling to records it obtained.
What happened to Joshua Allen?
Allen died in Fort Worth on September 30, 2025. Local news reports published October 1 and 2 said he was struck by a train, taken to a hospital, and identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as 36-year-old Joshua Demon Allen. Those initial reports said the official cause and manner of death were still pending. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s report and NBC 5’s coverage documented the early account.
What was the reported cause of death?
On March 20, 2026, TMZ reported that records it obtained from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office listed blunt force injuries as the cause of death and suicide as the manner. The finding is attributed here to TMZ’s account of those records; the underlying case record is not independently reviewed in this article. Read TMZ’s report.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office describes its statutory role as determining cause and manner of death in cases involving unnatural causes or violence. That general description explains the office’s role, but does not itself verify the findings in Allen’s case. The office’s website provides information about its responsibilities.
