In a February 9, 2024 report, The Guardian described abuse allegations made by two former partners of actor Jonathan Majors: Emma Duncan and Maura Hooper. Duncan alleged physical and emotional abuse; Hooper described alleged emotional abuse and controlling behavior. Majors’s lawyer denied the physical-abuse allegations. These were the women’s accounts, not findings in a court case.
Who are the two former girlfriends?
The women named in The Guardian’s February 9, 2024 report are Emma Duncan and Maura Hooper. The report recounted allegations about their relationships with Majors and attributed the accounts to the women.
What did they accuse Jonathan Majors of?
Emma Duncan’s account
Duncan alleged physical and emotional abuse. As summarized in the report, she described being choked, thrown across a room and slammed against a mailbox. These are allegations attributed to Duncan; the report does not establish them as court findings.
Maura Hooper’s account
Hooper described alleged emotional abuse and controlling behavior. Her account, like Duncan’s, was not adjudicated in the separate criminal case involving Grace Jabbari.

What did Majors’s lawyer say?
Majors’s lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, denied the physical-abuse allegations. Chaudhry characterized both relationships as toxic and said Majors regretted saying hurtful things. That response should be understood as the lawyer’s position, alongside the allegations reported by the women.
Were these allegations part of the Grace Jabbari case?
No. The allegations by Duncan and Hooper were separate from the case involving Grace Jabbari. The Guardian reported that Majors was awaiting sentencing after a December 2023 verdict in that case, in which he was found guilty of two misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment. That verdict concerned Jabbari and did not decide whether Duncan’s or Hooper’s allegations were true.

What the report establishes—and what it does not
The February 2024 article establishes that Duncan and Hooper made the accounts attributed to them and that Chaudhry issued the described response. It does not establish those allegations as judicial findings. The cited report also does not establish later developments in the proceedings, so it should not be read as an update on their current status.
