Carol Bongiovi, Jon Bon Jovi’s mother, died on July 9, 2024, at age 83. In a statement on behalf of the family, her son called her “a force to be reckoned with” and said she would be greatly missed.

Who was Carol Bongiovi?
Carol Bongiovi was born Carol Sharkey in Erie, Pennsylvania. A report on her life says she joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1959 and met John Bongiovi Sr. while serving. She later operated several businesses, worked as a Playboy Bunny, and founded the Bon Jovi fan club.
The reported obituary said she was survived by her husband, three sons, daughters-in-law, and eight grandchildren. RTÉ, carrying a Press Association report, said she and her husband had been married for 63 years.

Where did she die, and was a cause given?
A contemporaneous report said Bongiovi died at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. It did not give a cause of death, and no cause should be inferred.
